Phousi Guesthouse Two — Hotel in Luang Prabang

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Phousi Guesthouse. Our double room with a shared bathroom was comfortable, and with only one other room sharing the bathroom, it was convenient. The shared bathroom offered constant hot water and was well-maintained. The hostel provided reliable WiFi, which was a nice perk. Although our room lacked a window, other rooms had balconies offering scenic views. Additionally, a communal balcony near the top of the stairs provided a lovely overlook of the river.

The guesthouse's location is fantastic, just a short 3-minute walk to the markets and close to the ferry pier for excursions. The owner/manager, though quiet, seemed willing to help if needed. It's essential to remember that this is a guesthouse, essentially someone's home. Respecting the property and its owners ensured a trouble-free stay. Awful experience.

I booked 2 days before arrival for 3 nights. When we arrived, I told us « sorry but the guest stay one more night, I have no room for you » for today but you can come back tomorrow for the other 2 nights. We decided to booked one night somewhere else then come back the day after because location is good. It was a huge mistake because after managing everything to pack our stuff and move place on morning to go in time to the waterfall, he told us again the same thing « the old guest booked one more night ». I kept my calm even If I was so upset. But the manager as absolutely no respect at all.

He also cancelled my reservation on booking so I can’t review in booking by luck for him. Finally I just read other comment in Google and feel is not the first time he acts like that. So at least I’m happy to not give him money he didn’t deserves and pay to an other and much better ans respectful guesthouse.

The owner is not sociable, never says hello. We got our room later than expected. He also asked us for $30 deposit, only for us. Because we asked other people who didn’t pay anything about a deposit. We found him dishonest and not nice. Cheapest room and bad experience. We booked through booking but he doesn’t have a card reader to pay. He hit my friend (a girl) on the floor. Refusing to let her go, holding her t shirt, who wanted to leave because we couldn’t have a conversation with him. We argued so much that he didn’t want to call the police. At one point people around called them, we were lucky because he scams people without paying their own taxes. We couldn’t get a stamp on our bill to prove to booking that we paid in cash. He had problems with the police afterwards. Please, for your safety, don’t go to this place....
