The food was okay and the prices not terribly high. Draft beer was good. Terrace dining upstairs was a nice view for people watching. However after we finished dinner we wanted to use the restroom and there was no water in either restroom. Absolutely disgusting to use the facilities as you can imagine and also that hands could not be washed. If they don’t have water for their customers use and sanitary facilities how do the food preparers properly handle food after using the restroom themselves? I do not even want to think about it to be honest. My wife asked if there was anywhere in the restaurant she could at least wash her hands and was told no.
Update: glad the owner thought disgusting toilets was funny; the owners response is also absolutely false. All of LP was not without water. Down at the food court 2 minutes walk the toilets and water were fully operational. Hotel water at LP Orient Boutique Hotel (great hotel btw) fully operational. Amazon cafe - no problem. So yes - blame the customer for wanting hygiene and proper sanitation for both its customers and food prep staff. The “well it’s Laos what do you expect?” response is incredible. I have been to every country throughout SEA and I fully expect what sanitary conditions will be in a variety of circumstances. Whether it be a gas station, street food, a cafe or a full service restaurant. Customers have the right to expect sanitary conditions at restaurants- if you can’t provide it then don’t open for a day or two until you can. If this particular restaurant was out of water - fully understand- but don’t pretend all of LP was out of water due to flooding. Take it for what you will and the owners response as well - they find it...
Read moreService: 10/10 Waiter buddies here are really supportive and delicate when arranging tables and serving us When I wanted to know more about the places around Luang Prabang, the owner here and his kind-a-Western friend did really make effort to share their insights about those places +1 point as the owner is half Vietnamese which made me proud hehe ;)
Food: 8/10 Our family did enjoy the dishes here. We had Rib-eye Medium rare and rare, Lamp chop and Tenderloin Steak. The rib-eye I had was juicy, flavourful with nice cherry-red color in the middle However, I would like to have a more dense peper sauce (it's a little bit too running for me) +1 point -- 9/10 for the crispy french fries - putting in an 'ep khau' which made me a sense of really Laotian here haha however, I need to minus one point as the restaurant did not list the dessert menus as the mango sticky rice was really delicious (the sticky rice was sweet with coconut added into and did really have a tempting fragrance) & the Chocolate Salami (we had not tried but it pretty looked like a Chocolate biscuit - I think)
Beverage: Unfortunately, the restaurant did not have fresh lemonade which might have not been the focus or the preference for the most guests having meal here I did have myself a Maitai which turned out to be really good. A little bit sweet for me but all're good ;)
The space: 8/10 Not really spacious but cozy and does have air conditioners which has always been suitable for tourists like our family
Location: 10/10 Right at the center of Luang Prabang's old quarter Easy to commute to another famous...
Read moreWe just ordered a juice but it was a bit dissappointing because it was not fresh :-( Our fault as we did not ask, but still…
Update after owner's answer: in your menu it's not written that is NOT fresh and the waiter didn't tell us. So that it is entirely our fault is not so clear to be very honest. Maybe you should consider to instruct your staff to tell the customers that the juice is not fresh, that's why I wrote my review. This was not done, that's why the 3 stars are more than justified from my point of view. In a country where you find fresh juice EVERYWHERE, I guess it's natural for customers to expect fresh juice without asking unless the waiter tells you different... So let's start thinking also about what you can do BETTER next time and not to justify if the customer...
