The hotel is not too bad, with most basic amenities that comes with a night stay or two would serve you just fine. Not too modern or contemporary. Although being somewhat out of fashion, the wooden furnitures and aesthetic making it feels vintage. There may be creaking noises on either panels that are made of woods every time you open up or closes something, but that doesn't really bothers me.
On a plus side, the hotel is conveniently located at one of the hotspots within a walking distance about 2-3 minutes to Gaya Street morning market. So it make sense for those who are planning to visit Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on a beautiful Sunday to experience the local morning market as the premise situated with plenty of shops, eateries, and place of interest. All these can be achieved within walking distance.
However, parking can be extremely challenging to find especially on weekends. So it is best to plan your journey here by taking a taxi ride or e-hailling car services, and travel as light as possible!
One of the odd side about the hotel would be the entrance as there's an alternative doorway into the hotel which is co-shared by a café and can be accessed to the lobby area. If you're Google Mapping here and feels like you're right at the spot but unable to find the entrance, that probably means you're at the café entrance (Brown Café, name something like that) and you might need to squeeze your way in looking odd.
Overall, a good night rest and reception staff are helpful to most...
Read moreThis branch of Best Western hotel is a nice place to stay. one secret: if you wish to make a booking via phone call, then forget it. they (the receiptionist) will always say that the hotel is fully booked. the trick is to bo through Agoda. you get the best deal ever, and a breakfast is included too.
the room is spacious with nice bed. the banket and bed sheet are quite thick, which is very very cosy and nice. it is windowless, but nevertheless it is clean and comfortable. the very minor downside is that floor is tiled with no carpet.
the room is equipped with nice shower and a working, yes a working hot shower and some nice toiletries.
the wardrobe is also big and it is equipped with iron board and of course, an iron.
overall, do stay at this hotel if your budget is RM 130 and above. this hotel is strategically located right in the small and congested city of Kota Kinabalu. the downside is that you have to find a suitable parking as parking is not provided to its patron
the hotel is located within walking distance to Jesselton Point (for island hopping). the hotel too is conveniently surrounded by a nice shopping mall (Suria Sabah), variety of chinese restaurants and even KFC is just a stone's throw away!
i love this hotel! so will...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the staff were genuinely helpful and accommodating—they allowed me to check in early, which I truly appreciated. The overall service and hospitality reflected a sincere effort to make guests feel welcome. However, the major downside was the room’s ventilation. I was staying at a windowless room, and I believe the air conditioner wasn’t properly maintained. During my stay, I fell ill with flu-like symptoms, and after returning home, I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. I suspect the poor air quality and lack of fresh airflow may have played a role, and that was deeply disappointing. For future guests, I hope the hotel management takes serious steps to improve the ventilation system and maintain cleaner air conditioning units—especially in rooms without windows. With some improvements, this could be a much more comfortable and healthier place to stay.Regards,Sincere guest from Sabah#Room No 104#First...
