Museum hotel is for the history lovers. With it's rich history refelecting in each room, this hotel is a must stay in Penang. Room experience: The rooms are well kept with huge ventilation and even though some rooms face the street, you wouldn't be disturbed by the noise as Penang is generally a very silent town. The rooms are equipped with all amenities such as iron boards, mini bar, tv etc. The best part about the rooms are that they are eco friendly and encourage vistiors to be the same. Dining experience: The food here is lip smacking good. We had breakfast here and the mushrooms were out of the world. The portion size is small but the food is tasty. Staff: The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to ensure you have a comfortable stay. They help you with all the major tourist detsinations and give you a map where they highlight all the street paintings and must vist eating joints. General experience: The WiFI is strong and free, the pool is well kept and the hotel is very easily accessible from anywhere in the city. They alsom give you free bbicycles and a Nintendo to play games. All in all this hotel does a pretty good job at maintaining the rich heritage of this town.

Me and my family stayed at Museum Hotel for 8 nights and it is hard to fault anything. Absolutely incredible from the moment we arrived to departure. Communication was incredible between front desk staff, and breakfast and dinner crew was also absolutely lovely. The housekeeping staff also were incredibly friendly and approachable for any concerns or even for a nice conversation to start or end the day. The location from everything is so central which made it really easy to navigate the city. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others wanting to explore this amazing city. Many of the staff members definitely went above and beyond to make the stay a special one. If there should be anything to improve on, I would like to address that some of the food and beverage staff could have payed a bit more close attention to structures regarding what they have available and there could have been a set expectation in place so that everyone can be on the same page when it comes to service, as there were a few incidents where we were told they were out of some things, but then when we asked later on to another member of staff they said they did have these things available.

Stayed here because of the pictures in Agoda. We booked the largest room available because it had a jacuzzi. But long story short, we bought into an illusion because the place was literally falling apart... The hotel had a change in management after reopening from MCO and were still working the ropes. Our room was directly above the reception area and it had very poor sound proofing because of the wooden flooring. The room although is very large and spacious... it had random and unnecessary furnitures inside and a lot of dead spaces with no use. There was an exercise area with a stationary bicycle and dumbbells... the floor is wood and creaking... imagine a dumbbell slipping out from your hand and crashing thru the floorboards... And the ceiling above our bed was cracking and dust, dirt and stone was falling onto us... We had to move the bed in the middle of the night... And because the room us so spacious... the aircon wasn't strong enough to cool the entire room. It barely reached our bed. And dont get me started on the "swimming pool" there... The largest room isnt worth it.. I peeked into the smaller rooms and felt it would have been a better choice.

I came to Penang, Georgetown with my friend from Australia but the dining experience at the Restaurant in this hotel was terrible.

We checked in on 21st Sep and checked out on 25 Sep 2018.

Hotel was beautiful with all the antique collections. Hotel staffs friendly.

We booked a double room Babao which earlier which cost RM170 per night for 4 nights total cost of RM680. Upon checked in the receptionist charged us RM 780. I raised the issue to staff, Jonathan and then he reversed back the cost to RM680. Not sure if is intentionally or not.

Hotel was beautiful with all the antique collections. Hotel staffs friendly.

However maintenance was poor. Toilet flushing tank was leaking. Shower room was flooded due to the drainage blocked.

I raised the issue to the receptionist, Jonathan and then was upgraded to Quadruple Room. However the staircase led to the room was so narrow and very steep struggling to carry the luggage upstair and no wi-fi coverage at the Quadruple room have to go downstair for the Wi-Fi.

Jonathan introduced a 7 course Dinner at the Hotel's Restaurant which cost RM230 per person on 22 Sep 2018. There was poor business no one except us. After we finished the meal, the waiter asked whether we want extra wine at RM40. The waiter said the wine is from Australia. So we ordered for wine RM40 for 2 of us.

On 25th Sep, when we checked out, we were being slapped with a bill of RM40 per glass of Wine instead of 2, which is really a ripped off.

We asked the Hotel receptionist why they charged us RM40 per glass of wine instead of 2 glasses? The hotel receptionist then called up Hotel staff, Jonathan who introduced us to the 7 course meal dinner who was not on duty but he did not solve the problem. The receptionist then just washed hand and directed us to the Chef of the Restaurant of the Hotel.

The Hotel Chef a Malay background was very rude, provacative and behaves like a barbarian, he is not happy that we are not paying the RM40 per glass of wine instead of 2. He said the wine is expensive from Belgium? (contrary to the waiter who told us is from Australia). Who is telling the truth?

He further said Penang is not cheap place if you want cheap go to Thailand.

What type of customer service is this Chef? Who is he to represent Penang State? What type of Premium product and service that Penang have to offer? He need to go to school and learn how to behave in front of international customer.

It is such disgusting closed mindset Chef, of course i have money to spend who are you to tell me where to go? The atmosphere was very hot and the Chef seems to be ready for a physical body fight. Such a barbarian rude poor customer service Chef.

We ended up only paying RM40 for 2 wines as there is miscommunication of the waiter.

I will never want to visit this Hotel again. Jonathan who introduce us the meal at the restaurant should have handled the case instead of washed hand and passing us to the Rude and Barbarian Chef directly.

I dont think I want to visit Penang again for this type of poor service. I will complain to Penang Tourism board and Penang Chief minister for the rude Chef who gave such as disgusting comment about Penang and a very poor overall exeperince staying and dining...

Not Family Friendly It’s a colonial building built in the 1800s , it’s been refurbished reasonably well , location is quite central Great for those who wants to feel the colonial era . This breakfast is an ala carte selection ,only properly 5 to 6 items to choose from , but the food is good , do take note , the coffee payable if you order a latte or something else instead of their normal pot coffee given . The pool is just a small pond , misleading for a swimming pool 2. Qi Lin room , its like a duplex where the rooms are on the 2nd level , entrance on the first level , the staircase have very sharp edges , can get cut easily , you will have issue to carry up and down your luggage , and not recommended for kids below 7 or people who have issues on stairs climbing especially with luggage , accident prone on the staircase and the low ledge , that could ruined your holiday . 3. While we were reminded to check put before 12.30pm , as a family with 3 young kids , understandable that we may encounter some delays , at 12.30pm , the staff was barking us more than once to vacate the premises , and at 12.51pm when i checkout , they Charged us 20 dollars for 20 minutes , after staying 4 days and 3 nights in the premise , this leave a bad taste , the feeling that we are being chased out after we are no longer a guest is an unpleasant ending experience after a wonderful visit in Penang , I was planning to tip the staff for more than the meagre surcharge. , that made me changed my mind . 4.The car park is just an open air area very limited lots . 5. Part of the lobby was undergoing repairs for the wooden piling , and the part was barricaded , the thing is , if I knew this was happening , i will not have chosen this place for my stay in Penang , premise should be forthcoming to informed guest on This matter . More suitable for couples or singles , not a place to stay for a...

Charming hotel. Overall the staff was very friendly and caring. The room we stayed in was nice looking and spacious (ba bao). However the bathroom wasn't that good, it was smelly, shower drainage was insufficient and we noticed the presence of ants. Also the AC is in poor condition, barely providing fresh air. Nevertheless, we had a great stay during the fourth nights we spend in that room.

On the fifth night things went bad though. A portion of the road located right under our windows had to be excavated due to a piping leakage. At night, hydraulic excavator was very noisy and gas smell was coming through the poorly isolated windows.

Since we had to take a flight early the day after and needed rest, we asked to be moved in an other room. At first we were told there was no other room available and that we had to stay in our room. Then we had to show at the reception that there was plenty of rooms available online for that very same night and argue a bit to finally get the lady at reception collaborating with us. The room we got offered was a small twin room with a bathroom literally stinking of cigarette butts. For some reasons, we had the worse sleep of all our trip on that night.

We would have expected to be moved in at least in an equivalent room quality or a better one. No refund had been offered for the inconvenience of having to move or staying in a subpar room although we paid for a better one. Overall we were disappointed with the handling of this situation and we would have expected better customer service from this kind of...
