Tien Hotel: A Cozy Home Away From Home in George Town During my recent trip to George Town, I was fortunate enough to discover the hidden gem that is Tien Hotel. This charming boutique hotel perfectly balances modern style with a warm, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. Location: Tien Hotel is ideally situated in the heart of George Town, within walking distance of many popular attractions, delicious eateries, and vibrant shops. Despite its central location, the hotel remains surprisingly tranquil, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Rooms: The rooms at Tien Hotel are tastefully decorated with a minimalist aesthetic, incorporating natural elements and soft, soothing colors. My room was spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, ample storage space, and a modern bathroom. The highlight was the private balcony, which provided a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the city views. Amenities: Tien Hotel may be small, but it doesn't skimp on amenities. The hotel offers a 24-hour reception, a rooftop terrace with stunning views, a well-equipped gym, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready with a smile and helpful recommendations. Overall: Tien Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of its prime location, comfortable rooms, thoughtful amenities, and exceptional service created a truly memorable stay. Whether you're visiting George Town for business or leisure, I highly recommend Tien Hotel for a cozy and welcoming experience that feels like a home away from home.

First day of checking in, entered a room full of dust of hair. Told the supervisor that the room is dirty and requested a room change but he insisted he cleaned the room in the morning. There was a carpet full of dust and hair and just when I thought he would vacuum it he just rolled it up and put it outside my room. Honestly not the service I expected after paying so much. The pillow cover and bedsheets come with yellow stains, even after room service it’s still the same. Makes me wonder about their cleanliness. No staff at the counter, it’s impossible to contact anyone for anything after 7PM. They give you a number to call but rest assure that no one will pick it up. They will even decline your call despite giving you a paper saying you can call these numbers at the check in. Their TV does not come with any channels so make sure to bring a HDMI cable or chrome cast if you want to watch any shows on it. Cute patio from the pictures but it’s impossible to sit for even 30 seconds because it’s so hot with the aircond compressor install right in front of the tables. The sound from the streets didn’t bother me as much but god the aircond is so loud and the worst part is you can’t even adjust the temperature or turn it off. Forced to keep it running for my 5 nights there because I can’t do anything about it. Called agoda for a refund for all the fuzz that happened on day 1 thats too long to write all the details here but guess what, they won’t respond to agoda. No fridge in the rooms, just a common fridge in the common lounge. If you want a fun vacation in Penang, maybe avoid this place.

The rating and review is personally based on my friend and I experience there. Firstly I don't understand what kind of concept it is that we have to remove shoes and walk up two floors to the reception. I personally found that ridiculous. Second point was the room my friend stayed the aircon was not working but when we raised the concern the person told us need to wait about 1 hour for room to get cold which we found it to be ridiculous but agreed. After 2 hours same problem and we complained and they changed the room for us eventually but told us the room my friend booked which is more expensive is sold out. So we got a downgraded room which was really small. Third issue which I was seriously very upset was we got charged tourist tax which was RM12 per person. We told them we are Malaysian and even showed our IC. The person said this is the normal charges in Penang. When we did our check out another lady was there and I asked for the receipt for the RM12 tax and she was shocked saying the charge for locals was only RM2 per person. We requested for a refund which we got eventually. As for the room downgrade we also got a refund but was informed by the lady there were rooms available as per my friends previous room. Totally regretted staying here. Only good part of this place is the location

Loved this unassuming little hotel residence!||||Location: Along Chulia Street, next door to two great Nyonya cafes: Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay & Canteen known for its Nyonya kuihs, and Yee Keng Cafe, known for its combination of Nyonya and Hainanese food. Family Mart and other convenience stores are just a walk away, as are the famous bars and restaurants along Love Lane and Chulia Street. Hawker food choices are also all within walking distance. ||||Rooms / Facilities: The modern and beautifully designed rooms are very comfortable, snug, and functional. The bed was very comfortable and as I was upgraded to a king room it felt super luxurious and decadent. It's the first time I have been in rooms fully kitted with Samsung curved screens so my viewing experience was very enjoyable. ||||The 3rd floor was incredibly peaceful. Sometimes, I could hear the music from the nearby bars, but once I switched on the TV, I was in my world. I liked that the TVs were smart and you could access the internet or your networks such as Netflix or even wetv in addition to the local TV and radio channels available. The room was also fitted with a hairdryer and ample sockets for electrical items.|| ||Tien provided unlimited brewed coffee and tea at their pantry on the second floor. There is also a huge fridge on the second floor where I was able to store some food and drinks and cutlery and plates for your use. I did not get a chance to try out the mini-plunge pool which together with the rest of the rooftop is accessible 24 hrs. Every now and then I loved being able to pop out and take in the fresh air, and check the weather and temperature before I decided to step out. I enjoyed having my lunch in the dining area on the 2nd floor just before checking out. ||||Redho, the manager, was very hospitable, made me a welcome drink, and showed me to my room, helping me with my luggage, even though I arrived after 11 pm. He also reached out to me to check if everything was ok and on my checkout times. ||||Parking: For those with their cars, the premise does not have parking. Nevertheless, there is an alley just next door where public parking can be arranged for RM8/day and someone is watching over the cars throughout the day and the night. ||||Something to note: the residence is a two-floor premise, with rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you do not like to walk upstairs or if you have a lot of luggage, then this may be a challenge or you should pick rooms on the 2nd floor. As hot water, coffee, tea, and fridge facilities are in the pantry, these are not provided in the rooms so you would need to pop down for refills or pack a thermos with you (which I did). Cups, plates, and cutlery are provided which I could bring back to the...

The hotel location is right on the hot spot of Georgetown. But it goes with noise at night until 2am. So if you plan to be partying at night it's ideal and walking distance to Love Lane and all Georgetown touristic areas. But if you wish to sleep and relax after midnight definitely not the right hotel for you.The room was OK in terms of size but a lot of mosquitoes coming from the bathroom drain. I've killed at least 50 of them thanks to a mosquito raquet 🤣 The tip is to close the bathroom curtains so they don't get in the bedroom. Humidity in the room had the paint peeling off.For the price I don't think the room quality was enough. Specially for the humidity and mosquitoes combination. The breakfast menu was not available but you can easily go down the street and eat at ease or order with the application grab. No bar available in the hotel. The shared areas are clean. Loved that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance. There are stairs to get into the hotel but they help you with your luggage. The first time you arrive you need to ring the bell for them to come open for you. Small door not easy to spot at first. I suggest to the hotel to stick the name directly on the door at eye level and big to avoid confusion. I've uploaded a picture of the door for you to not get lost. After you check in they will give you the door code so easy for you to get by.Staff has been helpful when asked but not interacting or giving you suggestion or asking you how things are going.I've rated cleanness average because there was a lot of hair in the bathroom when I arrived. Had to literally take it off during 5 minutes. Thick long hair... Not sure how they didn't spot it.Apart of that they were cleaning all right the rest of the stay.Internet was not easy to get when in the room but in common areas or close to the door of the room works better. Don't save on a sim card and buy at the airport for having internet at all times on your phone. Will help you with maps and outside anyway. The taxi from the airport was very convenient only 30 minutes and I ordered with grab came within 5 minutes.Hope this...
