每次来槟城都会在这家店吃几次饭，作为一个鸡肉爱好者，这原本是很好的选择。 但是！！！！这家店的老板娘实在是太恶劣了！！！！就是一个齐耳短发的老太太！！！ 上一次来点餐，老太太非要推荐我吃单独煮的那种鸡腿，我不想吃，想点鸡饭套餐，她说不够吃，无论如何也不给我点。她说我听不懂你说话，你找别人去吧！后来一位年轻的女性帮我点了13.5令吉的下庄套餐。上菜后老太太就用我听得到的音量说：一个女孩子吃那么多，比男孩子吃的还多！ 我请问呢？！我吃饭还要看你脸色吗？！！ 今天因为要离开槟城，所以最后一餐打算再去吃一次，结果又是这个老太太，我点了下庄套餐，她答应的好好的，结果端上来的是7.5令吉鸡饭套餐。我说我点的不是这个，她说这就是，就只有这个！！！下庄没有了！！！你先吃完再说！！！其他的你下次再来吃！！！！我说没有下次了，另外你们11点刚开门就没有下庄了吗？她很凶的说我听不懂你在说什么！！！！你找老板去吧！！！！ 我找老板点完餐，吃完饭，13.5的鸡+2.5的豆蔻水共计16，老板娘要收我16.5，我又去找了老板。老板安排另一个很面善的阿姨重新给我结的账。 至此我已经非常生气了，我陈述了一切，并问他们，老板娘是针对外地人还是怎么样，结果他们告诉我老板娘对谁都这样，她平等地欺负所有人…… 我原本是打算吃完再打包一只鸡带去新加坡的，但是完全不想了。 以后再也不会去这家店了，也诚挚的呼吁所有想快乐旅行的朋友，不要没事去找气受，一个听不懂人话并负能量爆棚的超雄老太太，真的能气死你的！！！！不想被毁掉好心情的话就不要去这家店！！！！

The boss arranged another very friendly aunt to settle the bill for me again. At this point, I was very angry. I explained everything and asked them whether the boss lady was targeting outsiders or something. As a result, they told me that the boss lady was like this to everyone, and she bullied everyone equally... I originally planned to pack a chicken to take to Singapore after eating, but I didn't think about it at all. I will never go to this store again. I sincerely appeal to all friends who want to travel happily not to go there to get angry. Goh Thew Chik Hainan Chicken Rice is a humble, no-frills eatery in Penang that recently made it into the Michelin Guide 2024, which honestly came as a surprise to me. When I visited, the place was packed with customers, and finding a seat was nearly impossible. Luckily, a kind customer who had just finished offered me his table, saving me from a long wait.

I ordered the steamed chicken rice set, which came with a generous portion of tender chicken, fragrant rice, and a bowl of clear soup. The chicken was impressively soft and juicy, paired with a light soy sauce that wasn't overly salty. The soup, though simple, was surprisingly flavourful and comforting. Best of all, the whole meal only cost RM7.50—unbelievably affordable for such quality.

Apart from the steamed chicken, they also serve roasted chicken and vegetables for those looking for variety. The environment is basic and old-school, definitely not modern, but that adds to its charm. It’s the kind of place that prioritizes taste over aesthetics. This place serves a superb plate of chicken rice. The dining area is however hot and humid even with numerous wall fans. Decor is a nostalgic kopitiam.

You have a choice of 2 chickens, white poached chicken and dark roasted chicken. I suggest you order a mixed plate consisting of both types. The poached chicken has a thicker rubbery chewy skin while the roasted chicken's skin is thinner. Both types are superbly cooked and the meat is tender, juicy and cooked with balance and perfect timing. The sauce bathing the chicken is deliciously salty and oily, a superb pairing with the chicken meat.

I must mention that their rice is one of the best oily rice I have tasted, most likely using the broth from poached chicken. The oil is optimum, the aroma and taste yummy, most importantly, not the least bit clumpy. The accompanying soup also arrives hot. It's light, simple but serves it's purpose well.

When you have the whole combination together, it's one of the best chicken rice available. Just don't complain about the less than comfortable...
