This particular establishment is renowned for its impeccable selection of kuih-much and desserts, but it's worth mentioning that parking can be quite a hassle. Additionally, one must be prepared to wait in line to place their orders for food and drinks.
During my visit, I opted for a variety of dishes, ranging from an assortment of kuihs to red bean soup, abacus, glutinous rice, and fried noodles.
While I found the red bean soup and black sesame soup to be overly sweet for my liking, they were still good. However, I couldn't help but feel as though they were missing a crucial ingredient: mandarin peel.
The assorted kuihs, while alright, were either smaller than what I'm used to or my hands had grown larger. I've had better kuihs elsewhere that were also more affordable than these.
I was disappointed with the Hakka abacus, as it had an oblong shape and lacked the proper taste and texture. The amount of flour used was disproportionate to the amount of yam, making it less enjoyable than I had hoped.
The glutinous rice was decent, but nothing to write home about.
As for the fried noodles (rat tail), they were forgettable and didn't leave a lasting impression on me.
While the establishment is air-conditioned, the service left something to be desired. The prices are quite steep, especially considering the relatively small portion sizes. The food lacked a certain heartiness, and the tables were somewhat sticky.
Despite these shortcomings, it remains a popular spot for locals to indulge in their sweet tooth cravings, with the added bonus of extending their hours late into the night. The 糖水 is a crowd favourite, but personally, I found the homemade kweks to be more to my liking. The service is efficient and the store is spacious and well-maintained.
It's worth noting that my review reflects my personal tastes and preferences, and may not necessarily be indicative of the...

Curry Laksa The curry laksa here is exceptional—one of the best I've had. It boasts a well-balanced, spicy, and creamy flavor profile. The dish is topped with roasted pork and tender chicken, both of which are flavorful. My only minor quibble is the absence of fried beancurd (taupok), but even without it, this dish earns a high rating of 4.5/5.
Fried Chee Cheong Fun A must-try item, the fried chee cheong fun is a delightful twist on the classic fried radish cake or char kway teow, substituting rice noodle rolls. The generous amount of ingredients makes it a standout dish.
Fried Loh Mai This dish impresses with its perfect balance of flavors and textures. It's not oily at all, and the addition of peanuts and fried shallots adds a delightful crunch and aroma. The wok hei (charred aroma) enhances the overall experience.
Desserts We sampled the red bean, green bean, sesame, and peanut desserts. All were not overly sweet and had a pleasant sandy (SHA) texture, creamy consistency, and fragrant aroma. These desserts outshine those from more famous competitors nearby.
Prawn Cake The prawn cake features a well-balanced mix of fish, prawn, and pork, wrapped in bean curd, coated in egg yolk, and deep-fried to perfection. I rate this dish 4/5.
Additional Delights The white sugar cake and kuih kochi are also noteworthy, offering a pleasant end to the meal.
Pricing and Ambience The prices are reasonable, making this a great value for the quality. However, parking can be challenging, and there's often a long queue. On the bright side, the service is good, and the environment is air-conditioned, making for a comfortable dining experience.

Read moreUpdate - Feb 29, 2024 - like Dawa more this time around. Went with a friend and tried 5 different things (see pic). Love the mono cha cha - creamy not too sweet coconut soup with soft chunks of yam, taro etc., also like the ice fungus soup, again right level of sweetness. Would not get the white powder mochi ball again, the skin is too thin, barely gives you satisfaction of the mochi chewiness, too much sugar/peanut filling on the inside. The yam abacus had nice firm yet chewy texture, but it’s pretty salty. It’s a lot of sodium for one person/portion. If I get it again, it’ll have to be to share with a friend.
Initial review - Nice staff & wide selection of sweet and savory snacks, mostly Chinese style. Prices are ok & you have a mildly air conditioned place to sit. However, the staff needs to clear the table more quickly. When I was there, there were quite a few tables with dirty dishes sitting on there for a while before being cleared. My ginger soup with mochi balls was OK. The mochi ball was soft and nice but the ginger soup was way too sweet. I could barely have a few spoons. This makes me worry to try other sweet soups they have such as red bean soup, etc. they should throw away very old bowls or bowls that are cracked such as the one I had. This is probably a good spot if you want to save money or nothing else is open, but probably not a...
