This is a budget hotel near Jonker Street (10-15mins walk). The area is traditional and rustic so don't expect too much and you be nicely surprised. It's close to the river with a nice walkway. Staff were great and helpful. If you travel by car, parking can be limited but not impossible. Staff even organised our parking coupons for us and put on our car. Rooms are very basic but if your travelling on a budget and not too precious than its fine. Your never going to be able to get away from bugs/ants in this heat so just make them part of your adventure. Our room had a hot/cold water despenser but you'll need to bring your own tea/coffee or they sell 3n1 coffee etc downstairs. There are food stalls on the corner selling fruit and local food & small supermarket close by. The best gem was a little chinese cafe straight opposite the hotel, it's unnamed so just ask front desk staff. It doesn't look like much but has awesome chinese steamed buns/dim simm etc. Coffee/teas pretty good as well. It seems like the hub for most locals. We went back 3 mornings in a row for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Its not open all day so just check the hours. Look forward to...
Read moreThis is the worst "hotel" I have been to. Not that my expectations were anywhere high, since it had a very affordable price and we had booked it out of necessity since everything was booked due to holiday weekend. The moment we arrived a very stressed staff immediately asked us to cancel our reservation (done via a website) since we could get a better deal with them. Since it already was cheap we didn't want the hassle. However this wasn't the end of it. They told us that they had cancelled our reservation because of "no show" (!)|and they insisted we would get a better deal. When I called the online agency to ask whether it had been cancelled they told us that our original reservation was still valid. Long story short; the following day we had to leave since the saga just kept continuing. In the end we called the agency and told them about their unprofessional conduct. I am unsure whether they tried to scam us and the agency or whether they were clumsy and shouldn't be in the hospitality business. The room we had was rundown and dirty in addition to all...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed in this hotel a few times because it's a short walk from the Jonker Street area yet located in the Chinese section across the river, so it's really inexpensive. Each room had it's own toilet, and the men that work at the front desk are there 24/7 and a great help. This is very basic but if you're on a budget, you can manage. I slept really well. We were never in our rooms when we were in Melaka, so we thought why pay for it. This place is clean but older. There's inexpensive pay parking, but the first time, you might have a challenge finding the hotel. The hotel manager gives you some kind of ticket for the parking. The steps to the room are worn, so you think you're in a dive but you're not. There's a drinking water tank in your room, also. Sheets are clean and white. The toilet didn't flush unless we added water to it from a bucket in the bathroom. Maybe if we had made an issue that would...
