Upon arrival around 12.30pm at this guesthouse, we rang the doorbell but no one is there, 5 minutes later a lady staff came back and opened the gate for us to go upstair. Unfriendly, no greetings, no smiles, she gave us our room key. The staff couldn't be bothered to show us the room, so we have to find the room ourselves. ||||The rooms are basic and tiny without window. We booked a triple room, 1 double bed and 1 single bed with aircond. Once we entered, there's a strong smell in the room, I guess it's some chinese medicine oil smell. Then we noticed some hairs on the bedsheets, we asked the staff whether they change the bedsheets for new guest. Well, we were told that they change it every 3 guests staying and they don't have extra bedsheets. The bed has only a thin mattress cover and a thin blanket. Towels are provided, we covered our pillows with the towels as we felt the cleanliness was dubious.||||There's a pc to online and wifi is available for guests. However the staff told us that we only can use the pc for 15 minutes. There's only one semi-clean bathroom and one toilet for all guests. ||||The location is very strategic to walk-around in jonker street. Right in front of the guesthouse is the weekend night market and a event stage where people having karaoke, it gets noisy during weekends. During our stay, there's a group of youngster guests chit chatting loudly till late night. We can hear the noise as the room has only a thin wooden wall. This place is not recommended for light sleepers.||||Overall, this was poor value for money, there are many better options in Melaka with the same price. Location was good for those who like to explore jonker street...
Read moreThis hotel has a perfect location right in the town center, you can't have it any better. We checked in on a Friday night, were told that our rooms were at the front side of the hotel and that there was a night market, so it could be a bit noisy. No problem what so ever we did not hear a thing. Both the original stained glass windows are there and an additional window frame on the inside. Yes the rooms are really big, so is the bed and the pictures that are on Tripadvisor do match reality. The walking distance to the red heritage buildings is really close and while walking to them, you can enjoy all the shops and many restaurants that are on your way. The parking is right behind the hotel very convenient. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and the reception is manned 24hrs.||The hotel does not have an elevator, though staff can assist you with carrying your luggage to the room if required. This hotel has art deco looks, both interior and exterior of the hotel. The hotel does not serve breakfast but you can have a western breakfast at the stolen cup or any of the many restaurants nearby. ||||If you find this review helpful pls give me a thumbs up, I must have done close to 500 reviews and if I can count the votes...
Read moreI spotted this hotel many years ago while walking down Jonker Walk and thought what a strategic location this hotel was. Since then, I have been wanting to book a room here and finally managed to do so 3 years down the road.
Jonker Boutique Hotel is a beautiful, clean and very well maintained hotel despite its exterior. The wooden parquet flooring and the black and white marbled tiled bathroom floor, makes this hotel a comfortable stay for tired tourists and burnt out corporate execs looking for a quick getaway. The bed is comfortable and the shower is excellent. The location is superb as it is situated right in front of Jonker Night Market with lots of shops, eateries and heritage centres.
Though I never received any complimentary welcome drink nor anyone offered to carry my luggage to my room, the hospitality of the front office staff, Amy more than make up for it. She even offered to help me search for the nearest coffee shop when I needed to wake up early for a bike tour.
Overall, thumbs up for the wonderful stay and will definitely stay here for my next...
