Chulu East Peak Climbing is combined with classical trek around Annapurna massif, ascending Marsyandi valley and crossing the Thorungla, before descending the Kali gandaki valley to Pokhara. This climb is technically straight forward and you should be familiar with the use of equipment, crampons, harness, ice axe, typing knots and handling climbing ropes. Most of the climbing will be involved walking roped together, including the glacier crossings. You can get very estranged and natural fit of climbing mountain from this part. The north East Ridge is considered the normal route to climb this peak from a Base camp on the Moraine at 5334m. Room was nicely furnished and clean. Bed was quite hard so bear in mind for those who would prefer softer beds. ||- Located in the heart of thamel, easily accessible to many food and shops by foot. It is in tucked away in a nice little corner which gave it privacy that I appreciated. Generally safe location (as with the rest of thamel).||- Warm and friendly reception, housekeeper and waiter. I know this hotel since mid-1980s, but this has been my first visit since 1998! I was pleasantly surprised because during my 21-year absence things have not only remained the same, in fact everything has improved (except staff friendliness which has ALWAYS been there). Clean, comfortable rooms, hearty breakfast, friendly faces. If you're looking for luxury, better head for Durbar Marg, but you can't beat Hotel Thorong Peak if you want friendly and affordable accomodation in Thamel.
