Online rating and reviews are sometimes very misleading! I checked through google and found Agoda rating showing as 4.5. The reviews are mostly encouraging. So, didn't think twice before booking it for 4 days from 6th to 10th September.
But in reality, I never ever had expected that my whole experience would turn out to be a sour one.
Location-wise, though it falls in Thamel area. But not in the heart of Thamel, rather it's much interior, and close to Chhetrapati Chowk, which a narrow and congested area. The road is so narrow, if the vehicle moves in a queue, you've no room to move alongside.
About the room: mine was a double bedded room, for which they provided me a welcome drink at the time of checking in, a bottle of mineral water and complimentary tea or coffee on all 4 days. But you won't get any more water bottle free. You have to pay for it. And how much is the cost? When a 1 ltr water bottle will cost you 20 NPR everywhere in Kathmandu, they're charging 35 NPR. I found one side of my towel hanger in the washroom is broken. The room has mounted fan only (AC is not required here. Hence I didn't take AC room) and one of the hanging nut is gone for a toss and fan is almost about to fall. I called them to rectify immediately and they fixed it.
While using the toilet, I found, the water coming out of the hand faucet is very, very less. I also had to complain. They tried to fix it. It got marginally improved, but the problem remained.
Wifi connection is too slow. You can somehow manage through your cellphone. But if you try to connect your lappy, you're stuck!
That's the way I had to manage my stay somehow. So, pls be don't ridicule by ratings and reviews. Sometimes, this can...
Read moreI recently stayed at your establishment and wanted to provide feedback regarding my experience, which unfortunately was not entirely satisfactory. One of the major issues I encountered was the absence of air-conditioned rooms, despite my reservation specifying otherwise.
The lack of air conditioning made the room uncomfortably warm, especially during the night, impacting my ability to rest properly. This was particularly disappointing given the expectations set by the booking information and the prevailing weather conditions during my stay.
As a guest, I believe that accurate room amenities are crucial for a pleasant stay, and the absence of a basic amenity like air conditioning significantly detracted from my overall comfort and satisfaction. I hope this feedback prompts you to review and update your room offerings to ensure they align with what is advertised and expected by...
Read moreKathmandu Regency Hotel I've spent my time at Kathmandu Regency Hotel for 2 weeks - before and after my trekking. Very clean and sparkling family-owned hotel located very conveniently to approach all the main sightseeings of the city. The warm AC was working in all the rooms I've stayed and it was super important since the nights are pretty chilly in December. And hot shower was available 24/7. Thamel walking street is 1min easy walk away. It took me 8 mins to get to Kathmandu Durbar square straight out the door of the hotel. The hotel provides all kind of adventures, treks and tours around Nepal. Every day the hospitality was wonderful and everyone was lovely. Staff speaks very good english and is super helpful. Sujan, the manager, did fantastic job helping out with any inquiries and concerns I've had during my stay. The hotel is popular among the...
