Rosemary Kitchen: A Hidden Gem in Kathmandu During a recent trip to Kathmandu, I stumbled upon Rosemary Kitchen while shopping for trekking providers in the Jhyata Area. This unplanned discovery quickly became my favorite spot in the city, surpassing all expectations.
Food Quality - The food at Rosemary Kitchen is exceptional. Their momo was the best I’ve ever had—flavorful, perfectly steamed, and served with a tangy sauce. The dal bhat and Nepali thali were comforting and rich in flavor, showcasing the use of fresh, local ingredients. The menu also offers international dishes, with highlights like a fresh vegetarian pasta and indulgent desserts like chocolate cake and mango sorbet.
Menu Options - The diverse menu caters to all tastes, with options for vegetarians, vegans, and meat lovers alike. From classic Nepali comfort food to light, healthy choices and global dishes, there’s something for everyone.
Ambiance - Rosemary Kitchen boasts a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with a mix of rustic and modern décor. Whether you choose to dine indoors or on the outdoor terrace, the peaceful vibe makes it the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing or trekking.
Convenience and Location - Conveniently located in Jhyata Area, close to trekking providers and shopping spots, it’s an ideal stop for travelers. The friendly staff ensures a seamless experience, and the fast service makes it a great choice for a quick, satisfying meal.
Prices - Despite the high-quality food and service, Rosemary Kitchen offers great value with reasonably priced dishes. Whether you're on a budget or looking to treat yourself, the pricing is affordable.
Final Thoughts - I’m so glad I found Rosemary Kitchen by chance. It’s a must-visit in Kathmandu for its delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m...

It was an open rooftop restaurant with surrounded by a lots of plants and trees. Everywhere you can see greenery. It would refresh your mind. Sitting arrangement is very simple yet comfortable. It's suitable for large groups, families etc. This place was clean and staffs were extremely nice. It makes my experience nicer when staff of any places greets their customer with a smile and treats them well.
Items i have tried:
(A) Summer Melon : 199 Nepali Rupee They had option of watermelon and tomato. I chose watermelon 🍉 They called it kidney cleanse. It was light and refreshing. It tastes like fresh watermelon. It's high in vitamin A, C and potassium. It's very hydrating. One of the most loved summer fruits.
(B) Rosemary Style Chicken Stuffed Spinach, Mozarella & Mushroom : 749 Nepali Rupee It was served by mashed potatoes and green vegetables with buttery white wine sauce. I had it for my brunch. I loved it so much. This chicken was made of breast pieces, it was little chewy but, tasted so good. It was stuffed with spinach, something I enjoyed a lot. People around me knows i do not like eating these kind of vegetables, specially cauliflower which i never eat. But, guess what ?! I ate them all and loved it. Mashed potatoes had a creamy texture and buttery taste. Good quantity, i was full for long time. Price seemed very reasonable to me.

⚠️ This is my personal opinion....
Read moreSummary: Slow kitchen and poor expectation management makes average food taste worse.
Yawn worthy: Flies. Many flies.
Service (2/5): It's not so much that the service is bad or inattentative (although at times they seemed preoccupied with other things), but rather they just seem to have the typical "what to do, kathmandu" attitude. This, coupled with phrases like "your food is arriving in 10 mins" every 10 mins for an hour makes this poor expectation management. Also no offer of something extra on the wait. They did offer an explanation, which I found somewhat acceptable (p.s. the steaks are frozen).
Food (2/5): I had a t-bone steak, my wife had lamb. I asked for it medium. My wife asked for her lamb well done.
Speed: 60 mins for both to arrive. T-bone steak: No t-bone in the t-bone steak (so most likely not a t-bone steak). The steak came dry and well done, aggressively seasoned with salt, pepper and a bit too much rosemary. On the whole, edible, but not great. The lamb was flavoured the same as the steak.
Drinks: something so unimpressive we can't remember. Only remember it being too sweet.
In any other city, this would be given 2 stars, I have decided not to upweight this because it is in Kathmandu, because it was highly recommended by tripadvisor, and I left...
