Oh my! What an amazing hotel - small, personal and intimate, fabulous friendly yet professional staff who delight at every opportunity whatever your need be it to order taxis, recommend a tourist site and more. I would definitely recommend using taxis arranged by the hotel re costs and drivers who all spoke English and ||Great rooms, we had 2 Queen size beds and a balcony complete with furniture to sit and ponder on the busy but beautiful and atmospheric town. They have air conditioning and provide hairdryers and TV. The showers are great. There is a small restaurant providing a nice breakfast with the usual egg station and of course lovely staff. I was also very impressed with their other meals - lunch and dinner, a good selection and I quickly became obsessed with the Tempura Prawns! All of the meals were very reasonable. There are plenty of other places to eat in the town, again all very reasonable and within walking distance.||Great location, right in the middle of the Tamel, Kathmandu. Tamel is a busy town of winding streets with lots of traffic and dubious driving by car or scooters. However, it is a fascinating town with so much to see and it is within max 30 mins drive to the various magical tourist sites. ||Although the town is busy I felt quite safe, I was never concerned about crime (I have a high level of awareness re crime etc). People are charming, very spiritual and extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is just off the road in Tamel yet surprisingly you don't hear the traffic at all. ||Although parts of the city of Kathmandu were destroyed during the 2015 earthquake, there are still plenty of places to see as most of the sites have been rebuilt. Seek out the ancient Hindu temples, such as Pashupatinath with its gold-topped roof and funeral pyres, (yes, they actually cremate bodies in public-if you are of a sensitive nature this may not be for you). There are also Buddhist stupas, their chanting and instruments were mesmerising, bringing me to tears. Visit one of the three UNESCO-designated royal complexes - known as Durbar Squares - to learn more about the culture of the Newaris, the historic inhabitants of Kathmandu Valley. ||If I haven't convinced you to go by the above, go anyway - if I was only allowed to visit one place in the world, it would be Kathmandu, a treasure.||Thank you Divine Divine,...

Read moreI have always believed that the way to a hotel getting a good review is via the guest’s stomach. In other words, if the breakfast is exceptional, then so should the review. Without doubt, in the fifty or so times that I have visited Kathmandu over the years, the best breakfast has been at THE DIVINE KATHMANDU HOTEL. The breakfast items are top quality and cater to UK/American with popular dishes - Sausages/Cooked Meats/Bacon along with a great egg-chef at hand to cook up your favourite style of egg. There was also a wide variety of Continental style breakfast dishes - with pastries, bread, jam, fruit, yogurt, fresh juices, fresh vegetables (including sprouted seeds) along with a variety of breakfast cereals. For Asian tastes, there was a good selection of hot Indian/Nepali dishes that included traditional breads.
The staff at the hotel were absolutely wonderful and could not do enough to ensure that their guests enjoyed their stay. The owners gave a lot of thought into the communal areas of the hotel: the inside reception area and lounge ensures warmth in winter, whilst the outside garden area and restaurant mezzanine, provided an airy ambience suited to the seasonal heat of Kathmandu.
The ‘icing on the cake’ was undoubtedly the rooftop pool/seating area which offered a wonderful respite from the summer heat of Kathmandu. Whilst we lay in the pool admiring the amazing panoramic views of the Kathmandu valley, other guests were sat at a half-floor-level above the pool having a cocktail and filming the Himalayan sunset – it was a truly wonderful sight.
We all loved our stay and extended the stay...
