Pariwar B&B — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

NEUTRAL||- the pics look nicer than the actual place, but the rooms weren't terrible||||GOOD:||- arranged for pickup from airport. went well. car was really beat up, but I assumed all cars were like that||- I was "upgraded" a bigger/nicer room.. downside.. I may have been charged for it (see BAD section regarding money)||- easy to find on the busy street because of the blinky light sign. after a tiring day, every street and every store starts to look the same||- good location, central to food and shopping (althought dont go shopping here)||- my driver Karma was the best part of my whole trip in Kathmandu. he was the absolute best and I was really happy he was my driver. Patient, kind, funny, and helpful. the tour car was newer and nicer. ||||BAD:||- i thought breakfast was included. especially since it's a B&B? ||- i wanted to hire a driver to see sights. giri helped me with creating an itinerary for two days. i knew i was in kathmandu for a very short time so i wanted to book a driver and hit the pavement running. i did little research on this trip (very unlike me), but i had an estimate of what i thought a driver should cost.. the price given to me was much higher than what i thought it would be. i had visited multiple places this trip and was exhausted. i just wanted to book my driver, drink some water, and take a nap. if I had more time and energy, I would have shopped around for driver prices. giri kept trying to upsell me on tours. his persistence was slightly annoying. ||- the check in process was annoying. i had to pay up front in cash so i had to go to the ATM. giri came with me, i MAC'd out money, and he wanted me to pay him in the middle of the bust street. I was annoyed because i didnt; want to whip out a giant wad of cash in the middle of the street. overall, i somehow paid way more than what I had anticipated paying. que sera. ||- the water was cold and never heated up. in the mornings and evenings the weather was pretty cold, so taking a cold shower was just not an option. at one point i was able to get the water just below lukewarm so i was able to wash my hair. i only stayed for 3 days so i actually opted to not take a full shower at all. plus the water had a strong metallic smell. ||- and lastly, i felt really pressured to write a review. i understand the suggestion.. theyre running a business in a really competitive market.. but hearing it several times was annoying. i like to write reviews because i like to share my experience, but on my own free will. i subconsciously held back from writing a review because i was asked so many times to write one. ||||overall, I'd stay again if I was in the area, but next time I would love to stay by in bhaktapur. this is place is great for the first time visit...

Habíamos buscado el hotel por internet pero no habíamos reservado a priori, por eso cuando llegamos a Kathmandu fuimos directamente a dicho lugar e intentamos obtener un mejor precio debido a que íbamos a estar muchas noches. ||Nos mostraron una habitación para 3, más allá de que nosotros éramos dos, pero nos la otorgaron al precio de una doble. ||Estéticamente la habitación era muy linda, espaciosa y entraba mucha luz. Pero... La suciedad que había en esas paredes, en esas cortinas, en el baño.. Polvo en los muebles, en las mesas!! Hace meses que no pasaban un plumero!!!! Más allá de que la habitación era muy luminosa porque tenía grandes ventanales, era prácticamente imposible ver la luz por las capas gruesas de suciedad, mugre y polvo que tenían los vidrios. ||Ni bien llegamos le pedimos que nos cambien el cobertor "blanco" de la cama, porque estaba todo manchado, no sólo con manchas sino rozado, como cuando se le cae polvo y nunca es lavado.. Las sabanas también tenían manchitas marrones pero bueno, las soportamos porque eran menores. Luego nos cambiaron el cobertor por uno un "poco" menos sucio. Sucio en fin... ||El baño.. El baño daba calambre.. El inodoro estaba manchado de un color turquesa, el cual no parecía ser ningún producto de limpieZa, y por otros tonos de color marrón, vaya a saber uno que es.. 😨||El lavamanos estaba también muy sucio y la arcilla que lo sostiene estaba a punto de caerse. ||Sin hablar del problema número uno por el cual tuvimos que irnos, el agua caliente. Nos dijeron que tenían agua caliente y error nuestro de no chequearlo de antemano, el agua caliente nunca apareció. ||Les dijimos que necesitábamos agua caliente porque estábamos justo enfermos, y resulta que nos dijeron que iban a fijarse que sucedía. Fuimos a pasear y cuando volvimos, les preguntamos por la bendita hot water y nos ofrecieron cambiarnos de habitación. Les pedí que quería chekear el agua antes y cuando la pruebo era igual de fria!! Ni siquiera era tibia!! Obviamente la habitación era igual de sucia!! ||Volvimos a nuestra habitación y dijeron que iban a arreglarlo. Al rato, aparece un empleado de ahí, quien nos entra a la habitación y se mete al baño a dejar correr el agua.. A todo esto, se instaló un buen tiempo en la pieza, mientras mi novio estaba durmiendo volando de fiebre.. Me decía a mi, riéndose, que tenía que dejar correr el agua ( como uno hace en la casa).. Bueno, dejamos correr el agua, con el muchacho dentro de la habitación y el agua caliente nunca llegó.. Pero ni siquiera llegó el agua tibia. Más allá de todo esto, nos inundó todo el baño porque estuvo muchísimo tiempo esperando que el "Hot water" se pose en la ducha oxidada que teníamos. El muchacho se fue, y nosotros ese día, no nos bañamos 🙈||Al otro día, cuando volvimos a decirles por el agua caliente, debido a que estábamos muy enfermos, la chica de la recepción no nos miraba y se reía mientras hablaba con otra persona, a quien tuve que decirle que le estábamos hablando a ella, por si no se había enterado. De todas, formas no nos soluciono nada.. Y nos fuimos.||||No nos dieron toallas||Nos mojaron todo el baño incluso el escueto papel higiénico que te dan||Polvo por doquier||Sabanas sucias||Alcolchado sucio||Ventanas más sucias que todo lo anterior||Baño sin mantenimiento, sucio y oxidado ||Cama sumamente incomoda||Dasayuno común, sin nada que te deslumbre||Personal sin decisión, poco proactivo, y que no...

The hostel was very nice, clean and the staff very friendly, and a good price. Good location in Thamel.||I owe the sucess of my amazing Nepal trek to the owner of the Pariwar B&B. He took care of everything! He was awesome! ||My friend and I just landed in Kathmandu, he flagged us down, said he'd pay for our cab from the airport to his hotel. So we agreed. Along the way we were talking with him about our plans to trek the Annapurna circuit. When we arrived he gave us each a free beer and we talking more about trekking. We ended up booking our entire trek through him, he arranged the transport to and from pokhara, the guide, permits, food, and lodging during the trek... and at a great price! and the guide we trekked with was so awesome as well, became a good friend. |I never had a problem the entire month I was in Nepal, and literally my entire trek was taken care of from Pariwar...
