I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shangrila Boutique Hotel, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene ambiance that set the tone for my entire stay.
Location: The hotel is ideally located, offering a perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. It’s close enough to the main attractions and city center, yet far enough to provide a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. The surrounding area is charming, with plenty of cafes, shops, and scenic spots within walking distance.
Rooms: The rooms at Shangrila Boutique Hotel are beautifully designed, combining modern amenities with a touch of elegance. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and had a cozy, luxurious feel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The attention to detail, from the plush linens to the tasteful decor, truly made me feel like I was in a high-end boutique hotel.
Service: The staff at Shangrila Boutique Hotel are exceptional. They go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and well taken care of. Whether it was the friendly receptionist who checked me in, the helpful concierge who provided excellent recommendations, or the housekeeping team who kept my room spotless, every interaction was pleasant and professional.
Amenities: The hotel offers a range of amenities that cater to both relaxation and convenience. The on-site restaurant serves delicious meals with a variety of options to suit different tastes. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast spread, which was fresh and flavorful. The hotel also has a lovely lounge area and a small but well-equipped fitness center.
Overall Experience: My stay at Shangrila Boutique Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. It’s the kind of place where you feel pampered and relaxed from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, I highly recommend this hotel for its exceptional service, beautiful accommodations, and tranquil atmosphere. I will definitely be returning on...
Read moreAwesome guesthouse with super helpful and friendly staff! I was also able to store some lugagge here while i was hiking and got help with my equipment. The location is great, close to the action but mainly quiet. Clean rooms, towels and toilet paper is included (only place where i saw this in Nepal). They also offer a water refill, so no need to buy plastic bottles or purify tab water :) Changing money is also no problem so bring your cash and avoid the pricey ATM's fees.
The only thing which was a little bit annoying was that i could not stay at the rooftop because there were always people heavily smoking (weed and cigarettes) and i am very sensitive when it comes to the smell, impossible to stay there. I also got pressured bei the Shangrila pick up taxi service from the airport (not the driver was the problem, but the guy who brought me the 10 meters from the Airport to the parking lot with the taxi). I ordered the pick up service (10 Dollars) because i wanted to AVOID being ripped off and/or pressured, but exactly this happened (i was too tired after a long flight to notice it fast enough) and the driver told that guy a little bit too late to leave me alone when he was insisting for more and more tip (i had not more than 200 Rupies which was the change from paying my visa, but 200 is a lot for 30 seconds work! So rude). Very, very unpleasant and not a nice welcome in Nepal!
Apart from that pick up service, my stay in Shangrila was just awesome and i would always come back to this guesthouse and those...
Read moreI didn't have a great experience here. The rooms are loud from street noise and very cold - the windows are single paned and there are some places where there's a gap between the glass and the frame. They do give you a ton of super warm blankets though, so at least I wasn't cold when I was asleep. The power went out a few times because it was stormy, which wasn't the hotel's fault. But even after the power came back on my room didn't have power. It seems like the building hasn't been maintained very well. Also, I didn't have hot water.
All of that would have been fine, but the thing that bothered me the most was the hotel transfer. I booked one through the hotel. When I got to the airport, there were two men there. When I got in the car, one of the men said "I work here, I'm a porter. A tip is expected". He didn't even do anything - didn't carry my bags or help me in any way. I asked my driver if this was typical and he said 4-5 USD would be good, where the entire transfer cost $10 USD! I realized on the ride over to the hotel that I had been taken advantage of. When I told the hotel what happened, I was brushed off and they told me, "You have to be firm". All I wanted was them to reassure me they wouldn't work with the driver again so someone else didn't have the same experience.
Sure, it's cheap and the location is great, but I definitely wouldn't go back. Stay...
