Taleju Boutique Hotel — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Recommend strongly to everyone.. To stay here.. I will start from beginning. When I booked the hotel, I communicated with the hotel on whatsapp The hotel person by the name of Mr Sudarshan responded very nicely about my accommodation confirmation and also told me about the free complimentary pickup. Before boarding the aircraft from India I again called them on whatsapp and they confirmed that the pickup will arrive as per schedule. My pickup came as per schedule though I got little late because of immigration. Hotel person was waiting outside airport with placard in hand.. Car ride was very comfortable and it was complimentary and free. We reached in 15 mins.. Hotel check-in was very smooth.. It took less than 5 mins.. I would like to take the name of Ms pooja, the lady at reception and one gentleman Ms Ramkrishna who completed the check-in process in no time. I was given choice of welcome drinks. I booked single deluxe room.. I was given deluxe single room. With attached toilet.. Room was very neat and clean.. Toilet was also very excellently cleaned up.. WiFi password was shared instantly. Room was quite cosy with all facilities inside. TV connection had all the Indian channels coming. Tea maker with replenishment, water bottles, etc whatever is expected from star hotels were provided in the room. In the evening when I came back from sightseeing, I went for dinner in the hotel itself. They have a very good garden area for eating. Apart from this there is a restaurant area inside also with large LED. So I had dinner inside the restaurant watching some Indian channel. The food was very good. I had vegetarian Newari Hal or Nepali Thali. I requested for without salt food and they were nice enough to give me without salt food. Quantity was little less for me and I asked them for second helping of rice and hey helped with the same without asking for any extra money. I had dinner both the days and had same vegetarian Newari thali or Nepali Thali. Here I would like to mention Mr Abhinay the person who took care of my dinner. He really took great care asking about the taste and thing if require in my dinner. Complimentary Breakfast was also very good with good tasty noodles and boiled potatoes. Along with Muesli, cornflakes.. They can introduce little bit more things for pure vegetarians like us. But not to bother still the breakfast was fantastic. I checked in on 25th August and checked out on 27th August early morning at 5:00 AM as my flight was at 8:00 AM. I told the reception staff about my checkout on 26th and they told me that they will pack some breakfast for me for 27th and I was very happy that they gave me packed breakfast on 27th morning. For payment of my dinner, they happily took Indian currency and I was not bothered to pay in Nepali Rupees. Proper bill was given for all the payments. Overall I really enjoyed the trip right from travel, tour, sleep, relaxation.. Everything was awesome fantastic and fantabulous for me. Location is great (I personally do not like hotels that are too centered in Kathmandu because that is too chaotic) Airport pick up was great! (But beware the guy holding your name, may not be your driver and may charge you extra for your bags we got fleeced $20- obviously an arrangement between porters and drivers! Try Stand your ground and pay only $10 they can be quite aggressive!) 눇Friendly staff, roof top not utilised as much as good be but was a lovely little sun trap to chill out for a few hours. In a lovely quiet area but close enough to the main Thamel pedestrian district that you can experience nightlife. Breakfast was great and plentiful and staff very willing to help! The spa is just massages and treatments but highly recommend. They are efficient in organising taxis for day trips at reasonable prices. Laundry service was very good and excellent...

We stayed at the Taleju in October and November both before and after a trip up to the Himalayas and it was an oasis in the middle of busy dusty Kathmandu.

Quite unassuming from the outside, fronting onto a small side street, once through the door the hotel sits around a very nice courtyard, with a small bar and restaurant facilities.

Suman - the food and beverage manager - was very helpful, charismatic and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, the night I arrived my flight was delayed but he kindly stayed behind and kept the bar open so that I could celebrate seeing my father for the first time in over three years (due to covid restrictions etc) with a cold beer and friendly faces.

My room had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard, the bed was comfortable and the room very clean. The shower had excellent water pressure and the plumbing was in good working order - especially by Kathmandu standards! The air conditioning was effective and quiet.

Breakfast was a complementary buffet which was basic but pleasant, with the option of buying a more substantial breakfast if preferred. The coffee was cheap and very good.

We had lunch and dinner at the Taleju on several occasions and the food was always freshly cooked and very high quality. The chilli chicken in particular was a standout starter!

I sincerely thank the whole team at the Taleju for their hospitality, and look forward to returning when I next find myself in Nepal.
