I had a wonderful experience at Aotea Gifts in Christchurch! I went into the store just to check it out and was very well attended to by the saleswoman Aline, who was extremely kind and attentive to me. I was surprised and happy to find someone who spoke my language — this made all the difference, since I am a tourist and do not speak English very well.

The store is beautiful, very spacious and full of variety! It has everything from typical New Zealand souvenirs to more sophisticated products for gifts. The items are of great quality and I even took part in some really cool promotions!

All the employees were very professional and welcoming. I definitely recommend visiting — it is a must-see for anyone in Christchurch who wants to take a special piece of New Zealand...

Most of the items I compared are a lot more expensive than their neighbohr (DF souvenir) next door. A polo tshirt is sold at NZ 44.90 here and it’s NZ 15 CHEAPER at DF souvenirs. It’s not even a couple of bucks we are talking about here. Even the snow globe it’s NZ16.90 here and it’s going at NZ11.50. Left the shop feeling very frustrated and angry for assuming that the stores in NZ wouldn’t be so unreasonable to price things out of range. Even if you factor in whatever promotion they mention, it’s still NOT WORTH IT. So please do your maths and don’t assume the prices will be somewhat similar with a small delta.
