Fresh Food made every day what more can I say. There’s many cafes within the CBD but not all of them make their own food fresh every day. Most choose to outsource their own food and keep it in the fridge for a week until it’s stale. Compared to what Robert Harris was like a couple of years ago when I was searching for a regular cafe Robert Harris in the BNZ Centre has vastly improved. I’ve had the Ham and Tomato Quiche which is what I generally have everyday because it’s just so edible and the Salmon Quiche which is simply divine. I had the chance yesterday to try the Bacon and Eggs and I have to say that the Bacon was beautiful and crispy and reminded me of my mums cooking and the scrambled eggs were were fantastic and delicious this would be one of the better choices of cafe’s in the the CBD. Great food friendly and helpful staff, wheelchair accessible and is very big. Lots of space some very big and small tables and do have the seating capacity for large groups. So if you’re looking for somewhere new to eat give these guys a try. I keep forgetting to mention that how good the Mocha is here. I have one every day and the quality has never changed and it’s just such a nice hot drink...
Read moreWe came in at 3.24 pm and have been informed that they only do take-aways now, because of the closing time a 4pm (!). We both ordered mochas, which were nice and my friend also ordered a piece of chocolate mousse cake. The piece of cake we get Was clearly older than a day, already darker in colour and dried out. The vanilla cream even curved inwards slightly because of it. It also had bit of a 'fridge-taste' on it. When we complaied about it, the waiter told as that this cake was freshly baked this morning and cutted just 10 min. ago. I showed him the obvious colour difference on our piece and also at the cake pieces at the refridgerated counter (2 older piece in the back, fresher piece in the front) and asked if we could have one of the other, fresh pieces. He only offered us a money refund. I understand that you have to sell older pieces first, put if it becomes visual and your costumers Start to complain... Well, that's not a way to act and I also don't appreciate if someone is lying to my face in such a blunt Manner.
Even if I normally enjoy Robert harris Cafés, I can't recommended this one...
Read moreHorrific experience today at this eatery. We ordered 5 meals and drinks, server did say that they were busy and it would be a 40 min wait for food at a minimal. We were happy with that and just tried to keep my toddler busy. Drinks arrived fairly soon after we seated.
However we waited and waited and waited for food. Eventually after well over 1 hour and a bit, we went to the front to see where our food is and (another) server tells us " o oops there was a glitch with our computer so the kitchen hasn't even started to make your meals ". Um.. what??!! RH has a great rep around NZ so this is just horrific. The server who served us at the counter in the beginning kept walking past our table and did not once say to us, your meals are on their way OR actually register that we STILL SITTING THERE AFTER AN HOUR and still no food....
