We booked with them 4 tours around Cuzco: 1. Valle Sagrado, 2. Laguna Humantay, 3. City Tour (Sacsayhuaman, Qoricancha, ecc), 4. Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley. In general, persons taking part to these kinds of tours should be more interested in discovering places rather than what and where to eat, but this is my very humble opinion that I will leave here: we spent just too much time during each tour to collect persons, for lunch and to visit local artisan places that could have been more optimized to visit the actual place the tour was organized for. Another suggestion would be to have all people in one central place (plaza de armas?) instead of collecting all at each hotel (if the time/hour allow to do so for safety reason). Valle Sagrado, guide's name was RAI, who has been very charming in explaining history/facts about the several places visited. Much time was spent to collect all the different persons from the hotels, we have been the first and the difference with the last was more than 30 minutes: just too much. We left the group at Ollantaytambo to take the train to Aguas Calientes (we didn't visit Pisac) but at Ollantaytambo people had less than 30 minutes to visit the site autonomously because, as said initially, we spent 1h (or even more) to have lunch and they had to go to Pisac to avoid site's closure time. Laguna Humantay, guide's name was Guillermo. We confirmed the hotel name to the agency the day before, but the same morning at 4.15am (15 minutes before the agreed pick up time) I received a whatsapp asking me which hotel was ours - this suggests very poor organization. Again, we have been picked up at 4.30, and left Cuzco at 5.15 - 45 minutes to collect everybody - unbelievable. We have actually been at the Lagoon for maybe 45 minutes (only because we were fast) which was covered by fog, and we had to leave soon as they said that we needed to be back to the VAN at 12.30 as there was a road closure after a certain hour (I have read the same excuse in some other feedback): in the end we departed at 13.30 (1 hour later!!!) and we could have spent this time up at the lagoon that in the meantime was free from clouds, with the glacier fully visible: a shame that we couldn't enjoy the view from close enough. Finally, the beverages were not included in the lunch price so we had to pay them (this was not written anywhere in the description) and they left us in Plaza de Armas instead of hotel (which was written in the tour description) but this I consider a plus honestly given the traffic! Cuzco City Tour, I cannot recall the guide's name but was a guy with a tattoo of a snake. The guide was very good, explained things thoroughly, maybe a little too fast (probably in the end we were behind schedule) so I could not understand everything properly (I speak Spanish well but evidently not too well :) ). Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley, guide's name was Grimaldo. This tour has been simply perfect: fast collection, quick breakfast and we basically started the walk at 7:50 - perfect! After having understood that the path to the top was only one, we went very fast (the guide was impressed) and reached the top at 8:50 (1 hour, I can confirm as I took pictures) and we spent almost +30 minutes up before seeing the rest of the group reaching us. After many pictures, Grimaldo suggested us to do a slightly different path to the Red Valley, passing by the Mirador Hatun (5069 m above the sea level) to join the rest of the group at the end of the Red Valley itself just 5-10 minutes later: WOW! As said in the beginning, if only every tour had been organized the way the last one has been, I would have given 5 stars, but the time spent to do ancillary activities (lunch, pick up, local artisan visit etc) was...
Read moreWe booked two tours with this company. First tour, city tour, we asked for it to be in English it was in Spanish. The guide notice we did not comprehend everything in Spanish so she was polite enough to translate in English. When we got back we mentioned it to them and they apologize.
Then we booked a Machu Picchu tour with them. I told her specifically to make sure it was in English. Well when we got to Aguas Calientes and met with the guide to go over our itenary he mentioned the tour was going to be I Spanish. I was a bit rude with him and told him we paid good money ($530 plus 8% charge because we used a credit card) to get an English tour. He then apologize and was able to get us an English guide which was very knowledgeable and informative.
On our way back to Cusco, we got out of the train in Ollantaytambo train station, someone was suppose to be there waiting for us to pick us up to take us back to Cusco well no one was there. A very nice man from another tour company contacted Inka Tours and informed them that we were waiting for them. They then send a taxi man who wanted to charge us to go back to Cusco. That is when I just lost it. I told him we paid good money and that I was not going to pay that I had already paid. Then they sent another Taxi driver that eventually took us back to Cusco. He apologize for the inconvenience. Over all everything about the tour was great, but those inconveniences and frustration made me give this company a 3.
In conclusion, I will not purchase a tour from this company again. As there are many other tour companies around the Plaza de Armas. My recommendation make sure you are clear with them and do...
Read moreWe did the day tour to rainbow mountain. The pick up in the morning seemed very disorganized (late to pick us up, stopped outside of cusco to re-organize who was sitting in which of the two vans). I wouldn't have had a problem with this except when we got to rainbow mountain around 8:30 we were then informed we had to absolutely be leaving no later than 12:20 due to a road closing and therefore needed to go "very fast". It was also already packed with people there. We had gone from 11,000ft to about 16,000ft and several people were experiencing altitude sickness but the guides set a very fast pace which I think made things worse and also we were not given much time to take a break for a snack, or even just to enjoy the surroundings and take photos. It was very disappointing that so much time had been wasted during the morning pick up that could have been used for us to better enjoy the hike. We also ended up getting to the van at 11:45 so, again, we would have appreciated taking our time more and getting to the van closer to the 12:20 time. Overall, you get what you pay for... If I were to go again I would splurge to go with a private tour/driver so I could better...
