This hotel has serious problems and is overpriced for what it is, especially considering the area. I would maybe return if it was half the price, but anything more is definitely not worth it.
Pros: Clean, nice design, central, the soaps/lotions in the room are amazing, the wifi is stable and very fast, breakfast is good, comfortable beds with good TV in the room
Cons: As others mention, the noise. I had an internal room in the basement and the street noise didn’t bother me so much, but I could still hear it with the door and windows closed and literally being the furthest away you can get from it in this hotel. From my room I can also clearly hear the people above me and anyone walking in the halls. Furthermore, from my room there is a loud, high-pitched noise coming from the generators in the basement. Finally, having the room far away in the basement means that I have no real window; the only one is to the corridor/patio, so if you open it, then you have no privacy
Shower water temperature. This is legit dangerous and it’s a shame on the hotel that they haven’t fixed it because I see the same comments from several months ago. Even if you put the water temperature at lukewarm, every so often scalding hot water will come out. This water is hot enough to give first degree burns, so you always have to be aware when it’s starting to come out and move out of the way. Not sure if all rooms have this issue, but mine definitely did.
They did not give me the Hilton honors benefits I have as a diamond member. Clearly on the app it says that diamond members get 1000 points and FB credit. However, I was only offered one or the other. When I showed him that it should be both, not one or the other, he just said it’s wrong and I can call corporate if I want, but they won’t be honoring anything.
There’s no free coffee, nor kettle or anything like that in the room. They do have free tea, but they are so frugal/cheap that they leave the big kettle unplugged so you have to wait 5 minutes to serve yourself, unless you want slightly lukewarm water.
There’s no gym or anything like that
Poor construction: I couldn’t lock the door with the deadbolt because the strike plate was poorly installed. That being said, you still need a key to get in the room. The plastic part at the bottom of the shower door was poorly installed so there’s a gap and water leaks out and gets the bathroom...
Read moreI recently stayed 1 night at the Motto by Hilton in Cusco and, regrettably, I must rate my experience as 2 out of 5 stars overall. My assessment is largely influenced by the sleeping experience and value for money which fell short when compared to other accommodations in the area.
During my two-week visit to Cusco, where I stayed in five different lodgings, my night at the Motto by Hilton was the least comfortable. One anticipates a certain standard from a “by Hilton” experience, but this location did not deliver due to its proximity to a busy avenue. The noise was unbearable; the windows did little to insulate against the cacophony of street sounds, from shouting pedestrians to the honking of cars, and a non-stop karaoke nearby.
Another concern was the hot water facility in the reception area, which dispensed water with sediment from the thermos, indicating internal cleanliness issues. Although the staff was attentive and tried to address the problem, the issue persisted.
I am giving 2 stars for the basic necessities provided in the room and the commendable efforts of the friendly staff. The room has everything to stay and the bed was good but the described experience ruined most of the night. Despite requesting a room change, which was granted, the aforementioned problems remained unresolved. The staff was really good as people in Cusco. You can see for transparency I added 5 stars for room and service. If it is not for my bad night, the location would be good, closer to the top restaurants in the city.
For those considering a stay here, be prepared for a sleepless night unless you’re a heavy sleeper. The only way this hotel could justify its worth would be either by pricing the rooms at $50 to $55 per night instead of the $106 I paid, or even better, by installing noise-canceling windows to ensure a peaceful rest, which is something I'd expect from a brand like Hilton.
In comparison, other options like Costa Del Sol offer better value with similar pricing, including breakfast, guest amenities, and more spacious rooms.

Read moreLet me start by saying the staff at this hotel is phenomenal. They are so courteous and accommodating. I hate to give this place a bad review, but it was not up to Hilton standard. I stayed in early October 5-9 or something like that. This is when the seasons change from winter to spring. It is VERY chilly low 40's in the evening. It is also the beginning of the rainy season, so it is very damp which adds to the chill, so 40's feels like 30's. The front desk has to wear coats and scarves because the lobby is freezing. The entire building is open-air. The lobby doors are decorative so they are not automatic open/shut. The doors are kept open until the overnight shift. It's FREEZING 😭😭😭. The rooms only have radiator heat and the windows are not insulated. You feel every breeze and hear every sound. Literally you can hear people sneeze from the street. The room only offers radiator heat. The heat is only on from 8pm-6am and I believe it is cut off earlier than that. The bathroom has no heat. I had to heat my towels on the radiator so I wouldn't freeze coming out of the shower. The restaurant opened directly to the courtyard, so it was also freezing. The staff wore coats and suggested soup since it was cold 🥶 😅 I'm laughing, but really crying on the inside because this is HUGE. If I wanted to be cold, I would've camped somewhere. There also isn't an iron or microwave in the room. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, but I couldn't bring any to-go boxes back to the room because I wouldn't be able to heat them up. Again, the staff was top-notch. They will go out of there way to be accommodating, and the location is fantastic, but I don't believe I would stay here again. I can't imagine what the rooms feel like in the summer with no air conditioning. Also, as a solo traveler, I felt safe and welcomed in the hotel and the surrounding area. I walked around without a care...
