As much as I dislike leaving negative reviews, I feel I have to do this so that other travellers know the better picture. We did the 5d Salkantay trek. The agency is a mediator and the tour itself is carried out by a different company. This would have been fine, if the information that was provided by Machu Picchu Amazon Peru would have been truthful.
We were promised drinking water during meal hours (and as of the day of posting this review, it is also promised in the description on their website). This was a lie.
We were promised we would stay in a glass dome and two nights in huts. There was no glass dome and the third night were spent in very dirty tents (found a used earplug full of earwax in our tent).
They told us we can pack 7kg in our duffel bags, it turned out to be 5kg.
There were some hidden costs. We knew we would have to carry all our stuff from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes on the last day, but we didnât know we would have to pay extra to have the stuff delivered to Hidroelectrica.
Regardless of these points we really enjoyed our trek, the guide and the group were loads of fun. But this review is about the services provided by the mediator. We chose this agency because of the promised points vs another agency who said they would not provide things that were promised by Machu Picchu Amazon Peru to us. I donât find lying acceptable in any case, but we would not have been as disappointed, had we not paid $75 more per person for the promises...
Read moreI took the "Best Manu Reserve 4D/3N Trip" with Machu Picchu Amazon Peru, and I can confidently say it absolutely lives up to the name! Booking the trip online was incredibly smooth, and Richard made the experience even better. I had accidentally chosen the wrong month for my booking, and he kindly changed the dates without any extra feesâsuch a genuinely helpful and accommodating person.
What makes this trip truly special is its flexibility. There isnât a rigid itinerary, which actually adds to the adventure. The spontaneity allows you to fully immerse yourself in the wonders of the jungle and wildlifeâyouâll fall in love with it, just like I did.
I highly recommend booking with Richard. Heâs not only professional but also very flexible and eager to help. A big shoutout as well to our guide, Jose. His knowledge of the jungle is unmatched. He was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and attentive, always making sure everyone had the chance to see as many birds and animals as possible.
This trip was a magical experience from start to finish. Donât...
Read moreThe company's owner based in Cusco, Richard, would go to any length to sell you a tour. We paid 400 USD pp with specific requests: to go on a tour with a small group, and focused on wildlife searching. He said no problem, he would organize that for us. Instead, he sold us off, without any communication whatsoever, to another tour operator, specializing in low-cost tours with far too many people, focusing on trivial leisure activities around camp, poor infrastructures, and an inexperienced, incomprehensible jungle guide. We discovered during the tour that all the other people in that group paid 240 USD. So, Macchu Picchu Amazon Peru just decided to re-sell us to another company and keep the rest of the money. Horrible, deceitful behavior. Definitely not to be trusted!! Of course, they refused to refund us. Luckily, we reported the problem through our payment company and the case was solved in our favor, with a just refund for such a...
