Price: Definitely worth it. Rooms: 5/5 The rooms are lovely, well equipped with a/c. We had the chance to stay at 3 rooms because our plans kept changing and the hosts made sure to accommodate us at the last moment every time. Two rooms (at least) have a view to the river which is lovely however the room at the back without the window is darker and quieter so i must say we slept better at that one, despite not being considered one of the best. Peru is quite noise and rooms usually receive a lot of light in the morning so staying in a room that was dark and quiet was a blessing. Hosts: 5/5 The hosts themselves, Chip and Jessica, are two lovely people you can speak English with Chip and nice Spanish with Jessica. They also collaborate with tours in amazon of 1-3 or more nights (in lodges) so that makes everything super simple and easy and trustworthy. They will also keep your stuff while you are exploring the amazon at no cost. There is also a laundry place 4 blocks away that you can go to wash the clothes and the people will deliver them, packed nicely, back at the hostel so once you leave them to get washed you don’t have to bother. The amazon tour they proposed and the guide they introduced us, Miguel, they proposed was an amazing experience. They also found a guide for us to take us to Belen market which was an experience on its own! definitely worth a visit. Breakfast 5/5: The breakfast was simple but delicious and there is also the mercado across the street in case you want to buy a nice avocado to add. They also sell water there so you don’t have to go out. Location 4/5: quite close to the city center, however due to the market there is a bit of a smell, but you get used to this, it’s part of the Iquitos experience :) No bugs or anything in the rooms, super clean and comfy. Recommendation: I would just fix some of the sockets of one of the rooms to make charging easier. They also have two lovely doggos that make the stay even better!
We will definitely return! Thank you...
Read moreWe flew to Peru without any set plans for the first 12 days before meeting up with friends. After spending a few days in Lima, we decided to head for warmer weather and booked a last-minute ticket to Iquitos. Amazon Dream Hostal was the perfect find! The great hosts, Starlink internet, air conditioning, and an ensuite bathroom with hot water were exactly what we needed. Plus, having a small fridge, breakfast available, a central location in a local neighborhood, and their extremely well behaved, quiet, friendly dogs were added bonuses that made our stay even better.
Chip and Yessica are the most amazing and welcoming hosts. They were so helpful and knowledgeable about the area, providing us with tips on how to get around, what to pay, and connecting us with local guides. Chip arranged a wonderful tour with Javier, who took us to the Belen market and the "Bridge to Nowhere." We had an incredible time exploring, learning about local fruits and vegetables, trying new foods and drinks, and truly immersing ourselves in the local culture.
We decided to go into the jungle on a tour and Chip and Yessica safely stored our luggage and electronics for us for 5 days. We were so happy to come back to Amazon Dream Hostel to take a hot shower, sleep in air conditioning and a comfortable bed. It felt like pure luxury after sleeping in a tent for 4 nights!
We are so thankful for the warm hospitality and unforgettable experience at Amazon Dream Hostal. If you want to experience local life with great amenities and wonderful hosts, we highly recommend staying with Chip and Jessica. They made our trip to Iquitos...
Read moreStop looking! This the best place in Iquitos!!! The owners, Chip and Yessica, were so helpful during our time there. The communication before our arrival was always quick. We don't speak the local language, but Chip speaks English and Spanish which was a huge help. They gave us a neighborhood tour when we arrived. Arranged a Belen Market guide, helped us get tuk tuks, and aided us in finding the boats we needed for two local attractions. The Hostel itself is clean and colorful, with amazing views. The breakfast they provide at an extra charge is worth it with hot coffee or tea, fresh local juice, a bowl of fresh fruit, a delicious omelet with a roll. We stayed two nights before and after our jungle tour. The rooms were beautifully decorated with great views. The beds were comfy. The shower was hot. The air conditioning was cold. An easy walk to the Plaza de Armas and the Malecon. Temporary local market in front of the motel was fun to walk through. Chip and Yessica at the Amazon Dream Hostel were the nicest hosts we have met on all our travels. They made our vacation...
