In order to get a full understanding of the hotel experience, you may want to read all three sections: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.||The Good:|* Amazing customer service (5 stars for this) : The hotel staff wins your heart with the par excellence customer service they offer. Michael and his team at the front desk went out of their way to make our stay a memorable experience. First, the beds were not the best ones for my personal needs. I cannot sleep on foam mattresses. I somehow managed the first night of stay and Michael arranged for a rollaway bed to be put on the floor for the next two days. |Our flight was late in the night on the checkout day and we requested a late checkout. The front desk looked up and since their guests were arriving later in the evening, they let us check out late. This helped us a lot with our onward journey.|* Location: 3 of the rooms (#2,3 &4) have a nice view of the amazonia river (a tributary of the amazon). Also, the general location of the hotel is right in the heart of the city, just a couple of blocks from the Plaza de Armas and the most happening city square. The tuktuks parked right outside the hotel are a mode of transportation literally from the door step.|* The Rooms: A mansion turned hotel with 20 feet high ceilings and so much of space to move around makes you feel at home. All amenities in the room along with potable water jug, microwave, a hot plate, silverware etc. make it such a comfortable stay. A nice pool in the courtyard adds to the get up of the place. Not to mention the beautiful library that one must visit.|* Food: Very nice breakfast served with fresh juice and the standard breakfast items. This is not a buffet and is served individually in again a huge breakfast/dining room. The servers are so sweet and take every care to make you feel at home.||The Bad:|* The hotel is surrounded by tons of work happening and most of the area is being worked on making the place pretty much inaccessible from the first lane.|* The location is close to the city center but the locality is not very clean and there are almost like slum dwellings around the place.|* The bathroom toilets have a stench that needs to be addressed by the hotel. It's an amazing place but surely would do with some maintenance.|* The room has a huge window for the amazon river view but it is sealed by a glass pane. One realizes that it not only prevents noise from the boardwalk area but also prevents mosquitos from entering the room. But again, it could have been designed to be openable.||The Ugly:|* This section has nothing to do with the hotel but the boardwalk use by the public. You can see teenage boys in the boardwalk area making joints and smoking all evening. Cops do come there to check but there is a limit to what they...

Read moreBreakfast is included and you can pick from a menu of what you would like to eat. The food is good and fresh. Coffee and tea are available all day, just serve yourself. Fresh treated water is also available in your room and on each floor at no extra charge. So fill those water bottles you brought with you.||Room with a View - I had a room facing the river. The view was great. I do wish I could open with window but sadly not. Pay the small extra for the view.||Atmosphere - The ceilings are really tall which gives it the old time money feeling of what the house must have been like during its occupancy as a home.||Air Conditioning - My room had it own unit with my own control so I could set the room to the temperature that was most comfortable for me.||Bathroom - Very large and a great shower to start or end the day. There is s grab rail as it is a tall tub to climb into and out of when taking a shower.||Security - The front desk controls the front door so that not just anyone can walk into this lovely hotel. I heard that police had been hired for security. Sitting outside to enjoy the garden area down by the water was lovely with no worries of being harassed or bothered. I felt very safe here.||Location - There is a great restaurant on the corner and only a few blocks to the square for shops and more restaurants. Also, it is short walk to two museums.||Beds and pillows - It was a comfortable night sleep. The sheets are nice and not cheap. I prefer my bed to be a little less hard and my pillows fluffier but I am a snob when it comes to my pillows and mattress at home. ||The one thing I learned about all of Peru or at least the places I visited was toilet paper does NOT go down the toilet. It is placed in the convenient trash cans that are emptied twice a day.||Front desk - Very friendly and helpful as is all the staff at this hotel. ||I would definitely recommend this hotel and would gladly stay...
