Saska — Hotel in Wanchaq

this place doesn’t even deserve a one star. They are full of scammers and incompetent staff that try to blame YOU for THEIR errors and lack of accountability. My boyfriend and I had booked this hotel one month in advanced, keep in mind we paid for a DELUX KING CITY VIEW room and when we arrive they try putting us in a standard room with the view of a garden with dead grass. upon arrival we tried doing early check in as we had already requested and they tell us it’s going to be $30 USD per guest to check in??????? When I contacted the manager “Liz” she tells me a completely different thing that there shouldn’t be any extra fees of some sort then goes on to tell us we can check in at 11. When I go back to the front desk both MONICA AND MARILYN already seemed annoyed (literally grown mean girls) by our presence and tells us that we are lying that Liz had never said such thing. At this point my partner and I were already fuming we are tired hungry and sleep deprived. Waited around u til 11:30 and we finally “check in” but it wasn’t for the room we had PAID for. When I asked Marilyn if she was sure this was the deluxe king room with city view she was unsure and kept fiddling her answers. I called Liz again and spoke to her regarding this matter and she was somewhat helpful until she called me annoying and suggested I just cancel the reservation. I MEAN WHAT KIND OF “MANAGER” CALLED A PAYING CUSTOMER ANNOYING????????? Then they tried sticking us in the “matrimonial room” and when telling them we will take it if they reimburse the difference because there is no was this room was worth $90 they denied. Asked Monica if she can show us the rates of the rooms that they have and she said they didn’t carry it with them?? What hotel doesn’t know their rates by hand?? I asked to speak to a higher up and after a long one hour wait William shows up. Let me start by saying this man kept emphasizing on the fact that he had to take a cab to come “fix” this issue. William didn’t solve anything matter of fact he kept telling my partner to “calm down” or else he will call the cops. Pros: there are beautiful hummingbirds on the garden (if you get a garden view) the breakfast was yummy and everyday there would be something different to try the bed was comfortable and the cleaning was spotless staff was friendly

Cons: you can hear everything that is going on outside of your room. We were close to the lobby so we were woken up every day around 4 am when people went to the lobby for pick up. Sometimes there was loud music. We did not rest at all (any day) and I was wearing earplugs! there were ants everywhere: closet, bed, bathroom the wifi was terrible. Every time we wanted to watch tv it would take us at least 30 min to connect to the internet (this would be every single time we would turn the TV on) although the rooms seem to be new, there was a strong sewage smell. We had to cover everything with towels to avoid the smell from taking over the whole room the water in the shower changed throughout the shower. Sometimes it would take 10 min for hot water to come out. Coming back from days of hiking and having to wait for hot water to come out was dreadful you have to pay for water ($5 for unlimited refills) and the taste of it is not great

This hotel has everything you need. From a delicious breakfast to start your day to coming back to a clean and refreshed guest room at the end of the day. The room has all the amenities that you would need. Water is provided and an unlimited supply of coca tea which is great for high altitude sickness. All the staff members has been very helpful throughout our family stay. They even surprised me with a cake on my birthday which is to me a very nice personal touch :) when I got sick and needed a doctor, they have also organised one to come in less than an hour. They have also accommodated our last minute need for extra rooms. Nothing is too hard for them and is always willing to give a helping hand. All my interaction with every team member are very pleasant and I feel like they all enjoy being there. I will recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay while in Cusco and I will definitely come back to stay here should my travels bring me back to Cusco...
