📌Don’t Let This Happen to You in Bohol!💔💔💔 I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but what happened to us deserves to be shared so others can be warned. I decided to let it go… we didn’t want to ruin our vacation just because one resort failed to properly train their staff. But then I realized….I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this, especially during what’s supposed to be the best days of their lives…so I decided to make an effort to draft this. We stayed at Nautilus Resort and requested an extension, which their staff initially confirmed. We were told it was okay and to pay it the next day. However, that morning on our last day… while we were heading out on a tour, we were suddenly informed that the unit had already been booked by someone else. Imagine,...this was only told to us when we were about to go to our WHOLE DAY tour and someone was waiting for us outside to pick us up...they should have informed this to us that night. Worse, our things were pulled out from the unit without our permission. I clearly told them NOT to touch our belongings and to wait until we returned. We even cut our trip short and got back by 3PM. Sadly, the handling of our personal belongings was very unprofessional and disorganized. For people who’ve been traveling for over a month, that was a lot of stuff to move…and their staff wasn’t even careful. When I raised my concern, all I received were excuses, shifting blame, and a demand to settle a small balance which they even forgot to tell me when we picked our stuffs there….before they would even entertain connecting me with the owner. I was also promised a video for transparency, but it turns out, no proper documentation was done. This whole situation could have been handled with respect, communication, and common courtesy. It wasn’t. It was unprofessional. It was avoidable. And honestly, it was disheartening. Here’s what I wish we knew: • Don’t expect them to honor verbal agreements, even if they confirm it. • Don’t expect your belongings to be treated with care. • Don’t expect a good night’s sleep…our cabin had moths, and even a Tuko. We were too tired to mind, but it’s worth noting. • Don’t expect safety. There was no security guard posted, just someone who walked around occasionally…not even staying at the entrance all the time, and there is only ONE entrance at this facility.... For foreign tourists and families, that’s a safety concern. • And if you’re a local, manage your expectations. From what we experienced… locals are treated with less value. It’s not just the poor service… it’s the act of disrespect. 😔 Imagine this….. 💔 They entered our room while we were out….…And just dumped all our stuff into one big bag we bought for our unused clothes back home. While two of our suitcase are very light. They used the huge bag for it to be easier for them to just throw our things in there. 💔 It’s not just careless… it’s offensive. You don’t treat people’s things like that. You don’t treat people like that. Shame on the kind of service that treats people this way. We are guests, not garbage to be packed away without a thought. Imagine and feel the kind of disrespectful I feel. But still, I still choose to be much bigger person at the situation. I don’t disrespect people because I have been treated that wag. That reflects who they are…not me. It made me feel like we didn’t matter at all. And that… that’s the kind of treatment that stays with you. I have commented the conversation that we had below…also you can find it on my latest review via Google, just click recent or newest reviews and you can find my detailed review with convo.... Again, proceed with caution. To anyone visiting Bohol…be careful where you book. Don’t let a bad experience ruin your trip. Avoid this place at any cost. And one more thing...don’t trust 5-star reviews blindly. I used to work as a writer for online reviews, and trust me, a lot of businesses pay people to write glowing feedback. If you want the truth, read the negative reviews. They’re there for a reason.

First time in a “backpackers hostel”. Spent 2 nights in basic rooms (p850 per night) and 2 nights in private rooms (p2000 per nights). The 150m road to go there can be “dirty” when raining. When we arrived and booked the nights, the receptionist told us it will be p12.xxx (I didn’t remember the exact price). We gave p4.000 deposit. The day of the checkin she asked us p9.000 I asked her to check because it wasn’t the price she told us. Then she confirmed it was p8.400 The next day she told us there was a mistake and refund us p1.400 (she counted 2 people for 2 rooms, but we were 1 per room). So it was an honest mistake. Free breakfast for walking booking. The place overall looks really nice and quiet. A lot of trees and hammocks everywhere. The common area is also really nice with books and hammocks. A little Bali vibe in Alona. They display Netflix movies/documentaries in the common area around 8pm. Shared showers/toilets are clean with hot water. We had to pay p80 for a towel (we don’t know if we bought it for that price or just rent it, so we let it there). Most customers seem to sleep and wake up early. And they all behave very quietly. There js a guard staying there at night. The basic rooms are only isolated by curtains so if you have a light sleep you will need earplugs (if you don’t want to wake up with customers going to activities at 7am). They sell earplugs at the reception. The private rooms are really nice with a terrace. Big and comfy with a big bathroom. And they are totally isolated from noise.

The hostel has most of its rooms separated by heavy curtains surrounding a surprisingly beautiful central garden courtyard. There’s a common area with a projector, more hammocks, and some board games. The wood they used in this area is gorgeous. There’s also a row of private rooms along one side of the garden. They have their own bathroom, shower, and A/C. The staff is fantastic and very helpful. They cook a great breakfast every morning from 8am-9am. The location is great, about 10 minutes walk from the beach. The central garden is beautiful and the hammocks everywhere create a great vibe. To get to the hostel, you need to walk through a rocky unpaved path for a few minutes that is not well lit at night. I wouldn’t be concerned about safety, but if you have wheeled luggage, you’ll need to carry it. Trikes generally won’t go all the way to the hotel entrance. Also, there are a lot of roosters in the area so if you’re a light sleeper and don’t get a private room, they may wake you up. You might also hear people talking, but it was very quiet at night. The guests were mostly 20-40 years of age and tended to be German or Eastern European.

Paradise on Earth, there is no other way to call this place. I returned to Nautilus 4 times and it was truly my best time in the Philippines. The owners and the entire team made me feel at home. For a total of a month and a half I probably lived in every room, the brick, Boho and dormitory and each of them meets expectations at the highest level of both who want to travel on a budget and those who want more privacy. The common area with the hammocks combined with the garden has a stylish and charming atmosphere.

The property is located in a quiet area but also within walking distance from the main attractions of the city and the beach.

Internet provided in the whole area ensures trouble-free remote work.

The staff is fantastic, always smiling and helpful. The owners Karolina and Oliwier set a great example of how to treat their guests with the highest level of the service. Their hospitality and empathy made me come back over and over again and also to bring my friends with me.

Nautilus also offers everything that can help to explore Panglao and Bohol. They offer rental scooters, one-day trips, island hopping and of course you won't leave hungry because they serve delicious breakfasts. And drinks :)

And the cherry on the cake, a scuba diving course with Oliwier! Even if you are not entirely sure whether it is for you, you can be sure that Oli, with his professionalism, many years of experience and individual approach will instill in you a passion for the underwater world.

Both me and all my friends were amazed and delighted by Nautilus, all the people there and of course by Karolina's extraordinary, unique...
