CHEUNGNA KOREANRESTO — Restaurant in Panglao

I live in the Southern United States, and my exposure to Korean food has been rather limited, but my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. We ordered the pork soup, an onion leek pancake, spicy chicken wings, and (of course) cold beer. We found all the food tasty, including the traditional Korean appetizers that were provided. Their kimchi was top notch. I thought the chicken wings could have been spicier, and my girlfriend was of the opinion that they could be a tad more on the crunchy side, but both the sauce and cook on the wings was very good. The pork soup seemed to use a chicken stock (not sure what Gordon Ramsay would say about that), but it was delicious nonetheless. Of note, you have to add the chili paste and shrimp sauce/oil to season the soup to your liking. We were perhaps the most blown away by the pancake though. Would certainly make the walk up to the restaurant from the beach just to have another. The service, likewise, was good.

The most important thing to keep in mind with this establishment might be that they gear their portions and prices towards groups. It isn't particularly economical for a couple to stop by for a quick meal. I would consider the menu to be mostly Korean "pub food," though arguably healthier than what most Americans would think of that dining category. Come here with 3± people and you can share plates and enjoy the delicious food without as big of an impact on your finances. The one star goes to the nice service crews. Not authentic. Awful food cooked by kitchen leftovers and expired ingredients. Even-thought it’s a tourist oriented restaurant.
