There is nothing to recommend other than the cleanliness. The inn is not big, with only about 10 rooms. It is next to the main street. It is very noisy at night. You can hear the sound of many motorcycles and the sound of air conditioner compressors working in other rooms. When I complained to the owner that it was noisy at night, if I can get room changed to much more insider or if they offering earplugs. I got a very rude reply, "This is the Philippines, there is nothing I can do, you have to adapt here. Our rooms have been soundproofed and waterproofed. There is a mafia here, and at night There's a traffic jam, I even called the police, but there's nothing else I can do to help you. You can buy the earplugs from the pharmacy nearby." . When I checked out, I asked the front desk for a plastic bag, and she said directly that she didn't have one, and then said nothing, even without a goodbye... There are signs everywhere that this is not allowed, and that won't work, otherwise you will be fined. You don’t even know whether you are staying in a hotel or a prison. I can understand if there are a lot of rules here, but at least your attitude must be worthy of the rules you set.
Tourists should pay attention to their responses to low-scoring reviews. They are as arrogant as ever and never think they are fault. So please try to avoid choosing them who causing...
Read moreI think the hotel is good if you’re looking for an inexpensive, clean place to stay near Alona beach. In comparison to a hotel I stayed at right on the beach, this hotel was cheaper, cleaner, and overall just a better stay. Mostly I liked it, but I did notice that something about the room made it difficult to feel cool. I can’t tell if the AC was being weird or if the sheets just trapped body heat. It made it difficult to fall asleep, though I am someone who has a hard time falling asleep. I also happened to stay over New Years and didn’t sleep at all that night because of the noise from the road. This was not an issue the first night, at least not enough to impact my sleep, but if you’re as sensitive to noise as me you might be hearing a lot of loud motorbikes and some faint music. New Years Eve was an exception, as the parties wouldn’t typically go all night, and most people probably won’t have an issue with the every day night time noise. Again, I think the hotel is a good value for the money and it’s really well located. The WiFi also was really good in comparison to other places I’ve stayed so you could definitely do work or stream shows on...
Read moreI stayed for 5 nights at Alona Gecko Inn and had a very pleasant experience. Overall, I would stay here again if returning to Panglao and looking to stay close to Alona Beach.
Rooms: My room was very clean from the bedroom to the bathroom, with a small but pretty terrace which I found very nice in the evenings. The room included a fridge which was useful, as well as a small desk with space for two people to sit. The room might be on the smaller side for a couple of a couple travelling with a child, but it was perfect for me as a solo traveler.
Location: The location is excellent, close enough to Alona beach that food and retail options are a quick walk while being far enough away that the hotel has a somewhat tranquil feel in the evenings. 5-10 min walk away from the beach to a good coffee shop (Overgrown Cafe) and a reasonably priced eatery (Andrea's Kawayan Eatery).
Facilities: Not a whole lot to say here as the hotel does not offer food / activities. The grounds are very well landscaped however, which is a nice...
