Alona Austria Resort — Hotel in Panglao

We stayed 10 nights at Alona Austria Resort and loved it there. The property is well-maintained, with attention to every detail to accommodate a guest’s needs, like an area to wash sand off at the entrance, a hand wash laundry area with a spinning machine, collapsible outdoor drying rack, umbrella, a good amount of indoor hanging space for clothes, drinking water refills, and instant coffee.

Our room was the perfect size for a couple with a good size hot water shower room (with bathmat, shampoo/bodywash, hand towel), a small kitchenette (with microwave, sink, fridge and kettle, dishwashing liquid, washing up towel, and basic utensils, bottle opener). Our bed was very comfortable. The wifi worked very well. There were a couple brief power cuts in the evenings around 10 or 11 pm during our stay but the generator kicked in immediately., and everything was up and running again in about 5 minutes.

We loved our room, a solid wooden bungalow with a generous balcony overlooking the pristine pool. The room was equipped with a really good (and quiet) AC, an oscillating fan, and window screens. It was nice to have the windows open for fresh air, without mosquitos or other bugs flying in. The room was also maintained by housekeeping each day, usually with a fresh topsheet and pillowcases, and bath towels. We really appreciated this service, and coming back to clean sheets and towels.

The staff and owner were accommodating and friendly. The owner, who lives on-site, made us feel safe and even shared some of his Austrian cake with us.

The location is great. It’s a small hotel set back off the main road, and the other guests were very respectful and quiet, so we had a beautifully peaceful and relaxing time and could have easily stayed much longer. The hotel is also located only about 7 minutes walk to the beach front (as well as only about 10 - 15 minutes on a tuktuk from Bohol-Panglao Airport) with many amenities , restaurants, bars, nearby. I look forward to being there again soon. The resort was highly recommended to me by a good friend and I've been there 6 times since then. I have always been more than satisfied and for me it is the best address in Panglao. Here my experiences: The location is ideal, restaurants and the beach are only a few minutes' walk away and all the tourist noise is completely absent from the resort. The bungalows are well equipped so that nothing is missing. The outdoor area is very nice, you feel like you are in a garden and I really enjoyed the pool. The owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, whether ordering a birthday bouquet or organizing a candle light dinner, the owner always helped me and everything worked perfectly. The staff is very friendly and the bungalows are always very clean. It is cleaned according to the wishes of the guests, so you can sleep longer without any problems. I could also get drinks on site if I didn't want to walk the 2 minutes to the next shop. The guard also helps where he can, catching a gecko in the room at 2 a.m. was a great help and saved my sleep haha. We stayed in this small but homey resort for more than a month. First of all, before even coming there, the owner gladly let us to stay for a few days for free! Imagine that? the excess of our 1 month stayed she treated us. THAT IS EVEN BEFORE WE STAYED, we already experienced the kindness that surrounds this place. From our Day 1 to our Day 34 we experienced nothing but kindness and thoughtfulness. Everything you'll need to live comfortably for that home-away-from-home kinda feel is there! The ate's (staffs) are so helpful with everything that you will need, if you request something and it is readily available they will give it to you, if not, they will offer their service. I have nothing but the best words, not even good but the best words for the people tending this awesome resort. It's price is very good, reasonable, and the distance from anywhere is within reach. There's a lot of mini marts for your needs, restaurants are everywhere, the beach is like 5 minute walk, Jollibee, Mcdo and Dunkin Donuts are also near.
