Edit: 7/22/25- I'm deeply concerned by the response received from this hotel. I am in no way linked to another hotel or hospitality industry. The reservation was under my husband's name - I can assure you we were recent guests.
I wanted to share my honest and constructive feedback with the property in the hopes that others are able to make an informed decision when choosing where to stay in Lisbon. Based on the disappointing response from this hotel, I urge you to find another place to stay. There are lots of great hotels in Rossio.
Original review -
This hotel was disappointing in so many ways.
Let me start with the positives:
It's centrally located to many shops and public transit. You will not be bored in Rossio. The check in process was very quick and easy and our room was available early. The shower has great water pressure.
And the negatives:
Everyone who works at the hotel is very unfriendly and they all seem miserable 24/7. We were rarely greeted and nobody went out of their way to help us. The rooms are so tiny that they are uncomfortable. There were two small hooks in our room to hang stuff. No drawers, no shelves. We had to live out of our suitcases. We couldn't unpack anything. The rooms are also falling apart. There were holes in our walls, the shower ceiling was starting to cave in, there was mold in the shower. It just felt gross and uncared for. Breakfast was gross every single day. Even at 7:30 upon opening. I complained to the front desk once after the milk from my coffee came out in chunks. The cold items were never kept on ice - they were on a table in the sun, so they would be room temperature or warm. The hot food was cold every day. The best part was the pastry table because I knew the hotel didn't make it onsite. This breakfast was the only food that upset my stomach in Lisbon. Unfortunately we prepaid, so we couldn't get it refunded. The hotel is on a side street where there are unhoused individuals living. It felt horrible that my view was their living space because I wanted them to have some privacy. We didn't open our windows so they could have some space and dignity. The street out front is dirty and always had piles of garbage outside the front door - no matter what time of day we arrived or left.
Please save your money and book elsewhere. This hotel does not care about you or your comfort. I truly could not believe how many good...
Read moreWe arrived into Lisbon on April 28/25 - two hours after the big power outage that hit Spain, Portugal and France and it was pandemonium! It took 6 hours to get to the hotel from the airport (normally a 33 minute bus ride). The staff at the hotel, who were underfed, stressed and overworked that day, were so kind, accommodating, and gracious. They helped us find a place to eat as all restaurants were closing because they were running out of food. They brought our suitcases up for us, escorted us up the dark stairways with flashlights, and offered us as much information as they could, in addition to complimentary port and pasteis de nata. I learned the next day that all they had eaten was bread that day. The following morning, when internet and power had been restored, we were able to eat at the hotel restaurant for their buffet breakfast and it was so delicious, with a varied selection (I ravaged the iberico ham and the goats cheese and don't get me started on the whole wheat bread). Obviously, with no electricity we couldn't run the A/C but there was a window overlooking the square that opened fully so we could get some air. And the pitch black shower was an adventure (good water pressure, nice towels, very comfortable bed and pillows, small room). Great jubilation in the square that night when the power came back on. Will definitely always stay here when in Lisbon and...
Read moreI cannot rate this hotel highly enough. 5 stars doesn't seem to reflect the standard of service provided here, I wish I could give more.
As soon as you arrive you're greeted by friendly staff and offered some Portuguese port and a custard tart. Nothing is too big or too small to ask for, and all the staff are very approachable. The reception staff always greet you when you arrive and send you off with a "have a great day". This may sound small, but it's wonderful customer service.
On one of the days we stayed the lift was under repair. We also happened to be on the 5th floor (the lift only goes to the 4th floor though). We simply mentioned in conversation that we're not fit enough to always take the stairs and we were very out of breath at the top. We were not in any shape making a complaint, however, we returned to a chocolate cake and personalised apology card in our room the next day.
The breakfast is delicious. The rooms are clean. The beds are comfortable. And, maybe most importantly, the air con is amazing! The location of this hotel is epic. Within walking distance of so many shops, restaurants, and attractions. But also close to the metro and bus stops.
If I return to Lisbon I will 100% be staying...
