Pensão Lafonense — Hotel in Lisbon

Perfect location with access to 2 metro stations. Lots of tourist restaurants around but apparently NO supermarket or convenience store nearby. Room rate for a single person was cheaper compared to the other accommodations. However, just be prepared for the quality.||||Pension staff was available only from 10am onward. Despite the property manager acknowledged in advance my arrival time between 9-10 am. The staff wasn't there. I tried to call the phone number provided from third party booking agent but nobody answered. At the end I waited 1 hour outside the staircase on the 2nd floor.||||The cheaper room rate corresponds to the poorer room quality. Bed sheet was very old and I also concerned if it was changed after the previous customer left. At the end, I used my own bedsheet to put on top.||||My room didn't have exterior window, but it was not indicated on the third party booking agent's room description. I had unfortunately booked this place for 3 nights because of its central location and average price. Instead of a standard single room with view I received a 3-bed room with view towards a ventilation shaft in the centre of the building. Curtain and blanket were in rags. The photos in Hostelsclub.com looked different. I do wonder how this place is in the list of hostels! I cannot imagine how an AWFUL, DIRTY, SMELLY and MISERABLE PLACE like this can exist in 21-st century! I am just speechless about it! When you arrive expect to be moved to another building nearby due to there not being enough rooms. The owner (a gruff, Scandinavian chap) seems a bit suspect and the apartment itself dirty. The room was the basic minimum - I've slept in worse but not by a huge margin. The only redeeming feature of the room was the balcony, which looks out over Restauradores.
