This little hotel was a true gem! Having only an afternoon in Lisbon and not wanting to get involved with a large hotel, we found the perfect accommodation. We started communicating with their front desk about 3 months prior our visit, asking for suggestions on how we could make the most of our time. They obliged with speedy responses, even across the pond! The hotel is located in a great area within walking distance of shops, restaurants, public transportation - everything we were looking for. The hotel has only about 18 rooms (four on our floor), which were spotless with monogramed linens, superbly comfortable beds, wood flooring, and windows looking down to a view of a narrow street, typical of Portugal. We were able to drop our luggage and take off for the afternoon of exploration When we returned, our luggage was in our room waiting for us. We asked for a good seafood restaurant and they recommended one just 2 short blocks away. We were surrounded by locals and knew right away we were in just the right place. In the morning a European-style breakfast was laid out, buffet style, but we had no time to enjoy it as we had to rush to the airport. They did have a "take away" bagged breakfast waiting for us when we left for the airport. (They can also arrange a private car to and from the airport or cruise terminal.). We loved the personalized service at this hotel. The service was outstanding for our entire 10-day stay. Lisbon Wine Hotel prearranged our transports to and from the airport, and our transport service was seamless. Our check-in experience was prompt, courteous, and included complimentary wine to welcome our stay. The breakfast service each morning was well-prepared, and the breakfast staff were exceptional - with special thanks to Julia (pronounced Yulia, so not sure of her name spelling), for her impeccable management of food presentation and wait staff, prompt service, attention to details on our food and coffee orders, and excellent customer care. |We enjoyed our spacious and lovely 5th floor room with its glass double French doors offering views of the street life below. Our room's bedding was luxurious and comfortable, and room service was reliable. Our room was quiet. We enjoyed our modern bathroom with its walk-in rain shower. The hotel's wine offerings were good, and we sampled wine and port while there. Finally, the location of this hotel shines. Its central location in Baixa placed us within easy walking distance of Alfama, Bairro Alto, Chaido, as well the Baixa riverfront area. The hotel reception desk was staffed throughout our stay and arranged our taxi service to Belem. This was our best stay during our 3 week trip throughout Portugal and Spain! The bed is so comfortable that I didn't want to get out! I had an amazing sleep (and I'm a very light sleeper). The large shower with over sized rain head was outstanding. Then you slip into your monogrammed robe and slippers to enjoy a glass of wine from the complimentary bottle offered in the room as you look out your window over Lisbon. I felt like a queen! The staff are so attentive. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left they were available to attend to our every need. You don't get that type of personalized service at a large chain hotel. Special thanks to Rhuan, Diogo and the Brazilian gentlemen who ran the breakfast table, they made us Azorean visitors from Canada feel welcome and at home. And let's talk breakfast. It's served from 7:30 to 10:30 am next to the lobby area. Fresh coffee, made to order eggs and bacon, fresh bread rolls, mini pancakes, cold cuts, fruit, freshly squeezed juices, yogurt, sweets, the options are varied and all elegantly displayed and served. Being Portuguese we have very healthy appetites, and we were able to satisfy them every morning! The rooms are exactly as displayed in the photos. Lush monogrammed towels? Yes please!
