My wife, daughter, two other family members and I booked two rooms here from 5/2/24 to 10/2/24 for a ski trip in Grindelwald!
Our stay was nothing short of marvellous and this was entirely due to the extraordinary staff who we all fell in love with (Manager Ilyas, Katrina, the Asian lady at reception, the two guys at breakfast including the Portuguese gentleman. Each of them went above and beyond their duty to ensure our comfort. Their unparalleled politeness, warmth, and attention to detail made us feel genuinely at home. The staff's interaction with our 2-year-old daughter (who was full of energy all the time) was especially heartwarming; they were incredibly patient, engaging, and made her laugh and smile throughout our stay, which as parents, was a joy to witness.
Moreover, the hotel's cleanliness was impeccable, creating a welcoming and pristine environment from the moment we walked in. It felt like true ski lodge! It was ideally located for all areas of the mountain and buses, trains and lifts were all within walking distance. The breakfast and coffee were also excellent.
It's clear that the team at Hotel Bernerhof places the well-being and happiness of their guests at the forefront, making our visit unforgettable. It's the small things that go a long way (eg. giving us a tour of the hotel on arrival and giving guests access to a lounge with unlimited hot drinks). We're immensely grateful for the care and hospitality shown to us and highly recommend Hotel Bernerhof for families looking for a truly comfortable and delightful stay.
We love you and cannot wait to return

Read moreEverything was fine except the attitude of the receptionists whom we are going to complain here.
We are writing to complain the staff at the reception on 25th July for the night shift. There were two girls in total at the reception, a Chinese (refer to A below)and another one(refer to B below).
On that day, there was a huge moth in our room, me and friend were both afraid of it. I asked the receptionists for help twice. At the first time, A and B told me that they were going to close in 3mins and they were also afraid of moths, so that they could not help us and gave me a fly-swatter. After 15mins, my friend and I came back to the reception, and my friend told B that we still can't deal with the moth. Her reaction made us uncomfortable: she rolled her eyes and talked to A "the Chinese" and then she went away straightly. In the meantime, A told us that she was about to catch a bus 15 mins later and she had nothing to do with the moth. However, she helped us, just for about 3mins, chasing away the moth. Then she went away for her bus, though the fly was still there on the left corner of the wall behind the curtain. She said “it stops too high for me to get it.” and apologized, and the last sentence she told us was "u can ask other guests for help".
We understand the tiredness of the night shift, but we don't accept the attitude towards us. Helping customers is the duty of reception, and what B's reaction is totally a...
Read moreNice centrally located hotel. Rooms are more on the basic side, but if you come to Grindelwald for hiking you won't be staying much time indoors. In any case you can use the terrace if you want to have a drink in the evening, tea and coffee are free.
You also have a kettle and a small fridge in the room. No air con, but I arrived just after the heat wave so it wasn't an issue. Anyway heat waves in the mountains are still quite rare, and even if the days are hot the nights are cool.
The rooms facing the mountains have balconies and much more expensive, but if you opt for rooms facing the other side you can get fantastic deals. I managed to get a room via booking for around 120-130 francs per night. And you can use the terrace of the restaurant.
Breakfast is very decent: beans, potatoes, scrsmbled eggs, bacon, veggies, yahourts etc. But it never changes. I stayed in the hotel 9 nights, and the ingredients were always the same. Not a problem for me though.
Personnel is attentive and efficient and I all very pleasant group of young people. I will definitely consider staying here again if I come to Grindelwald next time.
PS: Google ratings are quite limited. I 'd give this hotel four and a half stars, but I can choose only...
