Very nice little hotel. The room was clean and had a well thought out layout. We had a view down to the village, just as advertised and it was amazing. The only downside for me was the stiffness of the mattress but I guess other people might like it that way.
The hotel was a bit remote and it took us about 20 minutes leisurely walking from the train station to the hotel. It does take a couple of steps up hill to reach the hotel but that should be no issue. If you are not good on foot you can always take a taxi from the train station.
The breakfast was simple but more then expected for the price ;) It hat an assortment of cut meats, cheese, mueslis, hard boiled and fresh eggs (to soft boil on your own). Coffee and fruit juices as well as fresh fruit were available too.
The spa area is amazing. You got a direct view to the Matterhorn from the heated pool outside. The pool is surrounded by a couple of sun loungers. Inside you got two saunas and a nice open indoor lounging area. It was absolutely relaxing staying there and I wish we could have stayed more nights to enjoy it more.
The hotel staff is very polite and was always ready to help with any inquires we threw at them.
I can whole heartedly recommend...
Read moreWe LOVED staying at the Hotel Capricorn. No glitz or glamour, it’s a down-to-earth quiet, cozy, comfortable, clean, and friendly boutique hotel. It’s an easy walk to the train station, shops, restaurants, Old Town, and the various ski lifts. The ski room was clean and comfortable for donning/doffing your equipment. The heated boots racks were delightful. We enjoyed recapping our day in the lounge with a beverage from the self-service wine, beer, and soda bar. The free wellness spa was top notch. What could be better than watching the sunset from the outdoor whirlpool or sitting in the sauna, infrared sauna, or the steam room? The free breakfast offered a wide variety of fresh fruit, hard and soft cheeses, meats, breads, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and assorted toppings for yogurt, muesli, and oatmeal. There were items for gluten-free or lactose-intolerant guests. Most importantly, the staff were top-notch. Everyone made you feel welcome. Even the cleaning staff provided a daily welcome gift! The friendly receptionists were my heroes. They came to my rescue when I lost my wallet. They called various places, checked various websites, and located it! I was awe-struck as they spoke fluently in...
Read moreA gorgeous small hotel/bed and breakfast in Zermatt. Fantastic Matterhorn views from your window/patio doors. The Matterhorn suite at level 4 (don’t worry, there’s a lift) has one of the best views in town, at the comfort of your patio. The beds are clean and comfy. The second bedroom upstairs has a low ceiling so tall people beware, but it’s a double bed as well. And a sitting area too. The bathroom is large and well appointed. There are tea and coffee facilities downstairs as well as in the room. Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) available to order at the bar or on an honesty list system outside of reception hours. The spa facilities are small but gorgeous, and the pool also has Matterhorn views to enjoy at sunset. Operating hours are a bit limited though. Breakfast was good and varied. Great base to stay that’s slightly off the main thoroughfare, which I thought was nice. It’s a bit of walk from the station but pleasant enough even with luggage if you take the long way around the Main Street anyway. Overall, fantastic base to stay in. May be slightly pricier than some places in Zermatt, but probably more median range, and you can’t beat the views! Waking up to the Matterhorn or watching the sunset...
