tl;dr: Horrible service & dirty rooms. DO NOT STAY HERE!
Had the worst experience at this hotel. Booked a room for 2 beds but the hotel only prepared a room with 1 bed. The hotel then proceeds to spend over 40 mins looking for a new room for us. However, in the end they still could not find the same type room for us. They then proceeded to put us in a worse room right next to the AC generator machine, at the very end of the hotel and right by the main road.
When we went in the room, we found spiderwebs in the closet, the sink leaking all over the bathroom floor and the air conditioning making drilling noises as if broken. We could also hear extremely loud traffic all night. By the time we were moved to this room it was already past 2:30am and we had a tour the next morning at 7am so we gave up having them find another room for us (considering how long it took them the first time). We basically got no sleep all night from the noise.
The next day, they said that they will have our luggages moved to the correct room we booked by the time we arrive back to the hotel after our tour. Instead we arrive back finding our luggages only moved to the front desk. They then proceed to offer us only “tea” to compensate for our awful experience the night prior. We refused the tea since we just got back from snorkeling and wanted to shower.
When we arrived in the “new room” we found dead ants all over and in the sink. I can’t fathom why they would move us into a dirty room considering how horrible out experience already was. We also had to wait 15 mins for them to bring our luggage. We quickly showered and talked to the front desk. They said they had no other rooms to move us to so we asked that they clean the room again while we go out for dinner. At this point they offered us late check out and airport transportation on the last day but refused to compensate us for the first night.
When we came back for dinner, they said they had finished re-cleaning the room. However, when we went in the room we found dead ants around the sink and more live ones now crawling on the desk and around the door. I can’t even comprehend how the hotel can mess up again at this point.
We then talked to the hotel and they said they would show us 4 rooms that were available. 2 of the rooms were clearly not cleaned within the past few days and smelled of mold. One room had a lizard crawling around. And the last one even had dirty underwear still hanging in the bathroom!
By this time we had spent over an hour going back and forth around the hotel in the heat looking at the rooms since for some reason they can’t seem to get all the room keys at once. The hotel offered to give us free dinner the next night since we have a tour during breakfast hours. But they still refused to compensate us for the 2 horrible days we spent with them.
With no good choices, we had the hotel clean out the ants again and slept in the original room. We also had to reshower that night from all the walking around. This was supposed to be our one night to get some good rest, but we didn’t get any. When we woke up we found new ants were crawling all around the room.
The 3rd day after we came back from our tour. They finally offered us a clean room but it still only had one bed. So one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed that was too short and left our legs hanging over it (we are short). They also told us that the manager who offered us dinner the day before got it wrong and we couldn’t actually have dinner.
While checking out from the hotel, they proceeded to hound me to sign a contract saying we were happy with our compensation when we clearly stated multiple times that we were not & wanted compensation. They said that because we agreed to their airport transfer and late check out we have to sign the contract. We hardly think those two things made up for the 3 exhausting nights we spent at the hotel. We refused to sign the contract espacially with the assistant manager using an extremely rude tone with us.

Read moreOk, one of the worst hotel experience i had in thailand, first of all the reservation, I booked a room for 2 adults and a toddler, no breakfast, all paid all good...then i enquired about an additional bed (for my brother who decided to come along...), price of the additional bed was quoted 1000bht breakfast included, i asked wo breakfast...same price...okay then I declined the offer....the answer of the staff was quite epic, basically, they threatened me of additional charges if the toddler I mentionned in my booking was not a real toddler...okay....i explained to them nicely that calling clients liars and threatening them was rude and inapropriate...they apologised...next step, i reached thailand, alone with my toddler (the person companing me reached one day before and was already in the room), i was exhausted, just traveled alone with a 2 yo toddler (parents will know) i reached the reception, they asked for the credit card i booked with (which was already charged by the hotel), i showed them the virtual credit card i used (full phone format on revolut for best exchange rates), they refused it and asked me to use either a physical card or cash and that they would refund me the first payment. okay np, I opted for cash, and explained to them that i d need to drop my luggage and toddler in the room first (he needed a new diaper and food) and i couldn t wander in the area with a tired toddler to look for an atm...they refused.....you have to understand first, that at that point of time, the room was fully paid, and i was exhausted, any normal person would say okay, I got angry, and insisted telling them that my companion was already in the room anyways....they accepted seeing that i wasn t gonna move......I got my refund 2 weeks later (750€) what a terrible sens of hospitality in a Hotel, smiles are not up to the clients money and humanity shouldn t depend on someones poket. other than that the hotel is fuuuuull of stairs, forget it if u have a child, you ll have to carry him all the time, you have at least 3 different staircase just to reach the elevator, and each floor has 5 staircase as it s a slope floor, a nightmare for parents...... the top pool is losing its tiles and they are quite sharp can be dangerous, and it s like that for at least 7 months judging from previous comments...the breakfast was the worst, dry pancakes, lousy coffee, not refilled fruits, poor croisant, i took it there once and ended taking it outside... this hotel is reaaaally overrated and doesn t deserve it s reviews. other than that the restaurant staff is nice, and coktails are...
Read moreAs a full-time traveler across Southeast Asia with over 169 hotel stays booked through Agoda, I can confidently say that Chanalai Flora Resort in Kata Beach stands out as one of the most pleasant and professionally run hotels I’ve experienced.
Upon arrival, I encountered a minor issue with my room. I reached out to the hotel via email, and the response was nothing short of outstanding. The following day, I had the privilege of meeting the Assistant Manager in person, who visited my room alongside the Head of Housekeeping. Her approach was extremely polite, attentive, and professional, and I was genuinely impressed by how personally she took the matter to ensure my comfort.
From that point on, everything about my stay was smooth and enjoyable. The daily housekeeping was impeccable, with the staff being consistently friendly, respectful, and detail-oriented. The pool, gym, and overall environment were always clean and well-maintained, adding to the relaxing vibe of the resort.
The front desk team also deserves praise—they were always smiling, courteous, and ready to help with any questions or concerns. Special mention to the bellman, who was always cheerful and helpful, making arrivals and departures a breeze.
One of the most memorable moments was during check-out. The Assistant Manager once again personally checked in with me to ask about my experience and future travel plans. When she found out I was heading to Karon Beach, she mentioned that I had booked a room at their sister hotel and kindly offered to call ahead to make sure my room was ready. That level of care and personal attention is rare and truly appreciated.
While I did have a small issue with a kitchen staff member, I brought it up with the Assistant Manager, who was very receptive and thankful for the feedback. Her openness to hear concerns only reaffirmed how well this resort is managed.
Overall, my stay at Chanalai Flora Resort was a solid 10/10. The staff's warm hospitality, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond made my time here memorable. I highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Kata Beach, and I will certainly return...
