My recent stay at Grand Kata VIP in Kata, Phuket was a mixture of delights and disappointments. While the hotel offered great services, a clean environment, and well-appointed rooms, there were a couple of issues that need attention.
First, I must commend the hotel staff for their exceptional service. From the moment I arrived until my departure, their warm and attentive hospitality made me feel like a valued guest. They were always ready to assist with any request, and their dedication to providing a pleasant stay was truly appreciated.
The cleanliness of the hotel and its surrounding environment was impeccable. The well-maintained grounds and lush gardens created a serene and tranquil atmosphere, which was perfect for a relaxing getaway. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the common areas, ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment throughout my stay.
The rooms at Grand Kata VIP were both beautiful and clean, with elegant decor and thoughtful amenities. The well-appointed rooms provided a comfortable and inviting space to unwind after a day of exploring Phuket. The attention to detail in the room design was evident, contributing to a pleasurable overall experience.
One of the standout features of this hotel is the private plunge pool that comes with certain room types. The pool was clean and well-maintained, providing a refreshing respite on hot days. However, there was a notable drawback concerning privacy. Guests staying in the lower-level rooms may feel exposed, as there is a lack of privacy from those staying on higher floors. This issue can be uncomfortable, as it allows people from above to look down at you at any given time. To enhance the privacy and comfort of guests, I would strongly recommend that the hotel considers installing privacy awnings or screens around the plunge pools.
Additionally, I found the size of the room to be a bit small for my liking. While it was beautifully decorated and clean, the limited space made it feel somewhat cramped, especially when accommodating luggage and moving around comfortably. Expanding the room size or optimizing the layout could greatly improve the guest experience.
In conclusion, Grand Kata VIP offers excellent services, a pristine environment, and attractive, clean rooms that are sure to delight many travelers. However, the lack of privacy around the private plunge pool and the somewhat small room size are aspects that the hotel management should address to ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable stay for all guests. Despite these concerns, I believe with a few improvements, this hotel has the potential to become an even more desirable destination in...
Read moreFirst trip to Kata Beach, so we really didn’t know where to stay. Bottom line, solid value for a clean, normal hotel feel. If you are a pool snob, the pool is fine, it’s just not top shelf. Nice workout facilities.
The rooms were surprisingly nice and a lot bigger than other rooms we had on our trip. The bedroom and bathroom could both be separated by a door which was awesome and gave an increased sense of privacy. We didn’t really care about the view which was a good thing, as we were not on the pool side. I’m pretty sure those rooms have a better view than just of the building next door. It was too hot to really hang out on the little patio but it was there.
Nice sized kitchen with a few pots and pans and some other dishes, but for such reasonably priced restaurants, why would you cook?
We left early on an excursion, and the hotel provided us with a boxed breakfast as the restaurant wasn’t open that early. Nice touch and appreciated for sure. Sea Cup Coffee would have been great to get the brain cells flowing but almost all the coffee shops don’t open until 8.
Pool area was fine. Definitely nothing like a fancy resort where you plan on hanging out by the pool all day. The water was wet and the happy hour drinks were a good deal.
All the staff was very nice. No complaints. Kata Beach district is a little weird with the feel of the areas changing within a few blocks. A little hard to describe but I think the north end and maybe the south end had a bit more upscale restaurants and shops than the middle section.
I could be wrong on this but it seems like you have to access the beach at either end via streets that go all the way to the beach. Club Med is in the middle section of the beach and they won’t let you tromp right through their...
Read moreA Nightmare Stay: Grand in Name Only
Our family's dream vacation turned into a horror story on our last night in Phuket. The so-called "Grand VIP Hotel" is anything but grand or VIP-worthy. It's a decrepit, shadowy labyrinth that will make you question your sanity and your travel choices.
A Shocking Arrival
As we stepped into the lobby, the air of neglect hit us like a wall. Everywhere were dull and grimy, a far cry from the glossy photos that lured us in. We knew instantly we had made a grave mistake.
Filth Lurking in Every Corner
Imagine your children running through corridors littered with mysterious garbage, or splashing in a pool where used, soggy towels lay forgotten. The elevator hall welcomes you with more rubbish – a grim reminder of the hotel's true nature.
The Unseen Horrors
If the visible areas are this neglected, one can only shudder at the thought of what lurks in the shadows. The unthinkable filth and potential health hazards for your loved ones.
Staff Indifference: The Final Straw
When confronted, the staff's nonchalant reaction was perhaps the most chilling aspect. Their blank stares and shrugs spoke volumes – this squalor is their status quo, and your family's comfort is the least of their concerns.
A Plea to Fellow Travelers
Parents, I implore you: don't subject your children to this travesty. What was meant to be our final, blissful night in paradise became a race to escape. We checked out immediately, unwilling to spend a single moment longer in this deceptive establishment.
Save yourselves the anguish, protect your hard-earned money, and preserve your precious family memories. The Grand VIP Hotel is a mirage in the desert of disappointment. Book elsewhere and keep your vacation...
