Ada Hotel Istanbul — Hotel in Fatih

Pros: Great location. About 2 blocks or so to the Blue Mosque and a couple more to Hagia Sophia. It's also pretty quiet for the most part. Never felt safety was a concern. Breakfast selections were small but everything tasted great. The restaurant, being on the top floor, has a nice view of the water. Great service. Very accommodating when possible. I was allowed to check in at 7 am since my flight arrived at 5 am. I did put in a request ahead of time. Pretty decent views of the water (as can be seen from my photos). Very convenient. Small grocery store (underground), good restaurants and coffee shops are all about a block away in different directions.

Cons: Rooms are much smaller and different than what I had seen from the pictures Hotels.com shared. I had the mid tier ocean view room with the Jacuzzi in the room overlooking the water. This was the selling point for me as this implied the room was decently sized, however, unlike the picture shown, there was only a single person jetted tub in the closed off bathroom. I was disappointed with this part as I had been looking forward to soaking and admiring the view, which is what Hotels.com sold it to me as. My room in particular had so little space that once I opened a luggage, I couldn't walk to the other side so started rolling over the bed to get across. The rooms desperately need to be updated. I understand them trying to capture the older Turkish charm, but those furniture were way past their expiry, especially the carpet. Every time I'd walk on the carpet, pieces of it would come off due to its age (huge pet peeve especially after a nice long shower). Compared to American hotel standards, this hotel feels more like a motel than a hotel - thin walls, rough bed sheets, sensor operated lights (no lights in the hallway right outside my door so I was blindly tapping the card), no brand toiletries, tiny elevator, etc.

Note: Istanbul has hilly regions and this hotel is near the top of the hill and it can sometimes be a steep downhill/uphill climb to go from/get here.

Overall I think that the staff are trying their best with what's given to them. I'd encourage the owner to start remodeling little by little or else they will struggle compared to similarly priced hotels in the area who are already remodeling.

Would I stay here again? I counted 5 pros and 3 cons. It's honestly a decent budget option. Just prepare to wear sandals in the room, and get toiletries out of pocket. Hidden in a side street 100 m south-west from the hipodrome/Sultanahmet area. Stayed six days in a small room with a sea view in the 3rd floor, just high enough to get less sounds from the street at night, but - at the heigth of imam's calls at 5.30 just accross the street ;) but this did not disturb us really. Kind guys at the reception helped us to find some good less-turistic restaurants in the wider area. They also arranged us a taxi to the airport (not exactly what we wanted - a simple yellow taxi with a taximeter - but for a set price, however it was at 4 a.m. so the reliability was maybe more important than additional about 10 € of the final price). The breakfast at 5th floor, with a dramatic views towards the Marmara sea, and the mosque bellow the window, and the old city. Varied food and good service. Well done cleaning daily, toiletries, water-boiling kettle, fridge, well functioning free wifi. Große Vorfreude, gefolgt von bitterer Enttäuschung!

Wir hatten uns für dieses Hotel auf Grund der hervorragenden Bewertungen bei Google und Check24 entschieden.

Die positivste Erfahrung war, dass wir schon vormittags einchecken konnten und nicht wie angegeben ab 16 Uhr. Am Empfang war man sehr freundlich und immer hilfsbereit.

Unser Zimmer im Erdgeschoss, war schon sichtbar in die Jahre gekommen. Das Bett kommentierte jede noch so kleine Bewegung mit einem lauten knarzen und quietschen. Die Matratze hart und durchgelegen. Das Bad lässt maximal den Aufenthalt von einer Person zu. Es lag im Zimmer ein leicht muffiger Geruch in der Luft.

Der Zimmerservice kam immer zwischen 18.15 und 18.30 Uhr. Eine Zeit, zu der Mann üblicherweise im Zimmer ist und sich auf das Abendessen vorbereitet. Das hatte zur Folge, dass während unserem Aufenthalt das Zimmer nicht gereinigt und die Handtücher gewechselt wurden.

Jetzt zum mit Abstand größten Kritikpunkt: Das in den Bewertungen so gelobte "Tolle Frühstück ". Die Auswahl ist sehr bescheiden und insgesamtein ein eher trauriger Anblick ohne große Auswahl und eher minderer Qualität. . Es gibt in Scheiben geschnittenes Baguette und in Stücke geschnittene Sesamringe. Diese lagen, nachdem das Frühstück abgeräumt wurde, abends noch da und wurden morgens nur mit frischen aufgefüllt (daran zu erkennen,dass es amnächsten Morgen ausgetrocknete und frische gab). Der Kaffee aus der Filtermaschine war auch abends noch in der Kanne. Ob der dann am nächsten Morgen einfach nur aufgewärmt wurde, können wir nicht abschließend sagen, aber der Verdacht liegt zumindest nahe. Auch Butter und Marmelade verblieben über Nacht ungekühlt auf der Anrichte. Die nette und hilfsbereite Dame die sich dort um alles gekümmert hat, war leider bei mehreren Gästen überfordert alles nachzulegen. Aufstrich war zum Teil lediglich Butter vorhanden. Frischkäse gab es uns nur begrenzt an unserem ersten Tag. Das frisch zubereitete Omelett, war am zweiten Tag, leider ungenießbar, da völlig verfallen. Der offensichtlich frische Trockenkuchen, war aber sehr lecker.

Die versprochene und viel gepriesene Dachterrasse ist leider gesperrt und somit nicht zu betreten. Der Frühstücksraum ist auf einer Seite komplett verglast und bietet zumindest eine sehr schöne Aussicht.

Auf Grund der gesperrten Dachterrasse, gibt es keine Möglichkeit, sich im Hotel außerhalb des Zimmers aufzuhalten. Vor den Haus, gibt es keine Sitzmöglichkeiten.

Die im Google und bei Check24 gezeigten Bilder, entsprechen nicht der Realität. Wir haben Bilder angehangen.

Wem das alles egal ist, bekommt ein Hotel in top Lage in Nähe vieler Sehenswürdigkeiten geboten.

Unsere Ansprüche sind üblicherweise nicht sehr hoch, wurden aber leider untertroffen.
