Unfortunately, our visit to the Grand Central Hotel in Dubai was far from what we had expected. Despite the hotel's promising description and facilities, we encountered several major serious problems during our stay.
Service and Security: Right from the start we were met with a disturbing incident where the cleaning staff took money from our room while we were present and witnessed it with our own eyes. When we raised this with the hotel manager, we were disappointed that we were not taken seriously and they explained that this was impossible that this had happened, they were to blame for the money having disappeared in some other way; staff denied the incident and dismissed our concerns without further investigation.
Excursions and extra costs: We booked a guided tour of Abu Dhabi through the hotel, which would include everything. The excursion was disappointing with extremely limited time outside the car and a driver who could not communicate in English as promised, despite this being a requirement on our part. Furthermore, we were rudely asked to pay parking fees which we were not informed about in advance. suddenly the driver knew English because he forced us to pay parking fees of 50 dirhams when we got back to the hotel and the next day we contacted the hotel we bought this from and again they denied that this could have happened.
Check-out and unexpected charges: At check-out we were charged for things like crockery, including coffee cups, and towels. I pointed out that the cleaning staff had not restored two of the coffee cups, but the hotel ignored this. Regarding the towel, I explained that although there were three towels in our other room, according to the rules there should have been two towels in each of our two rooms. Despite this, the hotel insisted on charging us for the missing towel in the other room. I suggested that I could go up and move a towel to the other room to correct this, but they declined and chose to deduct the cost from our deposit..
Facilities: The pool and gym had very limited opening hours, and women's exclusive hours were introduced which was not previously communicated. This felt discriminatory and made it difficult to use the hotel's facilities.
Positives: The only bright spot during our stay was the Filipino staff, whose friendliness and service stood in stark contrast to the poor treatment of the rest of the staff. It is our sincere opinion that the hotel's management should re-evaluate its HR strategy to improve the guest experience. "A brilliant aspect of the hotel's operations is the exceptional efforts of the Filipino staff. Their hard work and dedication have been invaluable and have contributed greatly to the success of the business. To further enhance the customer experience and optimize operations, it would be beneficial for hoteliers to consider integrate more employees with similar competencies and work ethic demonstrated by the Filipino staff."
Summary: Based on our experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend the Grand Central Hotel. The issues we experienced, from lack of security to exorbitant extra charges, made our stay more problematic than enjoyable. We hope that the hotel takes this feedback into account to improve future guest...
Read moreGood day! I booked a room in this hotel for 68 days, paid almost 10 thousand dirhams, stayed in the hotel for 48 days. Due to the illness of a close relative and the need for an urgent departure, I asked the hotel to postpone the remaining two weeks to July, but the hotel management considered that they have a policy of not postponing paid days, although other hotels in case of force majeure have always met me halfway.
Pros: Friendly staff; Convenient location between two metro stations Al-Rigga and Salah ad-Din, 3-5 minutes walk.
Cons: Tired rooms that require at least cosmetic repairs, shabby furniture, bathroom, dirty curtains; Very weak Wi-Fi, I used my mobile Internet and distributed it to my laptop; Very small swimming pool with inconvenient opening hours from 9 am to 5 pm; Small fitness room (about 6-7 exercise machines) with inconvenient opening hours from 9 am to 5 pm: The swimming pool and fitness room open at the same time, and the pool employee manages to come later than the opening time and makes himself lunch for an hour, during which the pool and fitness room are closed, due to which I was forced to buy a subscription to a fitness room nearby. The hotel does not have free parking, be prepared to pay 25-30 dirhams per day if you have or rent a car.
At the stated price, there are more interesting options for other hotels with a swimming pool, fitness room and free parking.
I am very pleased with the attitude of the staff in grand central hotel Amie, Vanessa,...
