I stumbled upon Miran Erbil Iraqi Restaurant in Al Rigga by chance while walking back to my hotel. The place looked inviting, and what really caught my eye was a customer enjoying what looked like naan kinam a traditional bread I personally love. I instantly thought, “I’m coming back here for dinner just for that bread.”
Later that evening, I returned with one thing in mind: naan. The staff welcomed me warmly, and I asked what I could order with the bread. I had assumed I could just buy a few pieces and maybe something small on the side, but the head waiter immediately suggested a set menu for 90 dirhams. I didn’t insist much, it looked good, even if a bit pricey.
Soon enough, a bottle of water was brought to my table without me asking. Like many customers, I assumed drinks were included in the menu, but turns out they’re not, the water added an unexpected 9 dirhams to the bill. I also heard other guests around me express the same confusion.
The meal started with a soup, salad, and a few small side dishes followed by the naan (which was excellent) and the meat plate. From the picture I had seen earlier in the menu, I thought it would be skewers, but it turned out to be minced meat shaped into kebab-style strips, a very classic Iraqi preparation.
To be honest, everything was tasty except the meat. It’s just a personal thing, I’ve struggled with this style of beef in many Middle Eastern kitchens. It’s the third time I’ve tried it in Dubai, and I’ve yet to enjoy it. It’s a far cry from a juicy chateaubriand, a tender bavette, or a proper Angus steak. So that part didn’t win me over.
Still, despite the unexpectedly high bill and the surprise extras like the bottled water, the ambiance is great, the service is excellent, and the food (especially the bread and starters) is worth trying for any curious foodie or traveler. I’d give it 4 stars but just make sure you clarify what’s included...

The ambiance was lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. One of the standout dishes I ordered was the Erbil kebab made from lamb, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Read moreWe had an absolutely delightful experience at Miran Erbil. The food was exceptional—starting with the perfectly grilled Shish Taouk, which was juicy and full of flavor. The Pacha was a standout dish, rich and authentic, truly a must-try for anyone seeking traditional Kurdish-Iraqi comfort food. The Arabic Salad was fresh, vibrant, and the perfect balance to the heartier dishes.
What really made our visit memorable, though, was the hospitality. Omar, our host, went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable dining experience. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care added a personal touch that elevated our evening. You could feel the passion for both the food and the guests throughout the entire visit.
Highly recommend Miran Erbil for anyone looking for authentic flavors, warm ambiance, and top-tier service....
