Went here about a month ago for a pub quiz. Was talking about the idea of going to one for ages and we finally did and a friend chose this location. The staff were funny and welcoming on the pub quiz night and I had a great time. The lady behind the bar remained professional which I felt added to the experience. It was one of their first pub quizzes (I think the second one) so there weren't many participants and our group had to split into two. A few kinks that needed to be worked out but it feels quite nice.
The place has an indie feel, it's a little travel off town or the docks, and the street isn't a main street.
The bathroom is a bit of a trek, if you want to find it, you have to travel up two flights of stairs and the upper layer feels like a different place altogether. All sorts of graffiti and the bathroom is full of graffiti. This appears to be art-related and intended but still reminds me of anti-social behaviour and I'm not entirely comfortable with it (just from a safety concern incase the pub actually attracts those kind of people, it had an automatic sense of making me raise my guard to that kind of thing).
I gave it 4* because of the bathroom area but also because the prices for drinks are astronomically high. They were really nice but I wouldn't be able to afford having more than two on a normal evening because of the price...
Read morePopped in on a dreary rainy day. Place was busy as anything and lively but managed to get squeezed in without any issue. If you can't see any seats, downstairs, there is room upstairs.
I was immediately greeted and directed to a table and then again welcomed by the waitress upstairs. She was very pleasant and friendly. She sorted out some water for the table and let me crack on with the menus.
I decided on the Passion Fruit Caipirinha. It was full of flavour and boozy. If you like your cocktails with a punch, this one is great.
I went with the Yazzmatazz pizza for my meal. I was unsure on the honey mustard and asked if it could be a small amount. The waitress agreed but then came up with the idea of having it on the side in a bowl so that I can try it and add as much or little as I wanted and I'm really glad she did.
The pizza tasted decent, the toppings nice and I love a good jam, such as the Jalapeno jam. Tried the honey mustard, liked it and added it to the pizza and oh my god it was so good. One of the best things I've eaten in a while and one of the best pizzas I've had end of. They've set the bar and I hope the other pizzas can match how good that one is.
The food, service, and venue are all great. Definitely going to be returning as there's plenty of options with both food and...
Read moreI don't write many reviews but we were so impressed with this place that l felt like l had to. We were looking for somewhere to grab dinner whilst our youngest kid was at drama class and faced with either Yates' poppity ping food or the draw of handstretched pizza we popped in. Firstly, table service which is great and then a really good selection of pizzas or small plates and more than that a decent selection of veggie options which was great for my partner. He opted for the yazzmatazz with goat's cheese and I had the 'Smelly Kev' which was chicken, prosciutto and mushrooms. We had some awesome dips (the miso and agave was just gorgeous) and a couple of soft drinks as we both had an early start but if you want a cocktail you are spoiled for choice because the menu is massive and when we don't have work the next day we will be back to sample the cherry sours. Dinner for 2 was £30 and the decent portions meant that we were full 😋 Highly recommended. Plenty of parking nearby or a ten minute walk from the...
