Avoid at all costs! I made a booking 2 months ago, we arrived in London at midday and headed to the hotel, we were aware that we would not be able to check in but wanted to leave the baggage as we had a large suitcase. The lady on reception confirmed our booking for 3 nights and took our suitcase for us so we could head off into the city giving us our key tag to give back in when we checked in to get our luggage back. At 7pm we arrived back at the hotel after a long and very hot afternoon in the city to confronted with a very confused receptionist who clearly had no clue what she was doing telling us we were not on the system, to which I responded we are booked in as your colleague confirmed it earlier and right behind you right now is our suitcase. She then rang to her manager, clearly it was too much effort for them to actually come down to deal with this situation. We were then told that we did have a booking but that they had cancelled this at 2:45pm as there was an invalid credit card on file. The card was not invalid at all, it is just set to stop unauthorised transactions which they attempted at 6am, they were not supposed to do this as the confirmation was payment at property ie on arrival. The biggest issue for me at that point was well if it was such an issue that you wanted payment then firstly why not call me, they had my number on file or why did the member of staff we left the baggage with ask for payment as I would have happily gotten that out the way there and then. But instead despite having seen us PLUS the fact that at that time they had our luggage they still cancelled our room AND resold it!!! The receptionist then got back on the phone to her manager, manager still did not feel it necessary to actually come deal with this, lazy as hell in my opinion, we were then told they have out booked us to their sister hotel, luckily just down the street, to which the receptionist flippantly told us, well their rooms are bigger so you will like it, like that makes their actions any better! We then headed to this hotel (the Victoria inn - don’t stay there either as it’s awful too) to be met with a receptionist who had no idea about the booking they had made, so we had to go through everything with him, still no manager appearing to actually deal with this cock up. They then tried to charge us £100 extra, which I point blank refused, I was paying what was on my confirmation and not a penny more! Then when it came to the payment I had planned to pay with a different card but showed the original credit card, with my name on, when I went to pay with debit card using my phone as it is just easier for me, the receptionist refused and told me I had to use the actual card and the PIN. As a hotel manager of many years it was clear to me that they thought that we were using stolen cards, well the IQ level was clearly low in him as I had shown the original credit card, with my name on the same as on the booking, and my drivers licence with my name on and my photo so clearly not credit card fraud but let’s treat the guests like criminals when the hotel is the one at fault! To then make the day even worse, the room was awful! The hair dryer didn’t work, the shower didn’t drain properly to the point you had to turn the shower off several times to let it drain or you would flood...
Read moreDefinitely scammers unfortunately, we asked for a room for 4 which the man nodded and confirmed the price so we payed. Then as we went upstairs he said no and claimed my 2 friends had to go or buy a new bedroom for them which they couldn’t afford the extra price. I then immediately apologised for the confusion and asked for a refund before getting the key card to which the man said no it’s impossible and refused to show me a refund policy of any kind. I then explained to him they couldn’t afford the second room and have no where to go and he told us that we could buy another room or go and that it’s not his problem. The contract they used with me was completely misspelled too and my information was incorrect. In the end he refused us a refund and wouldn’t explain any further then stole our money. The street was probably...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Lidos! The staff were lovely and the rooms were exactly what we needed. We were able to use the public loo in the lobby to freshen up before sightseeing as our flight arrived early in the morning. Also able to leave our bags with the front desk to grab later at check in. The hotel is boutique, so limited amount of rooms, and the rooms themselves are small, but that is typical of most European hotels and we only needed it for sleeping anyways. The rooms can also get stuffy, but the room comes with a fan and the window opens about 6 inches to allow air flow. A quick walk to either Pimlico Station or Victoria tube station; I would suggest the Victoria station as you have direct access to District and Circle lines from there. Lots of restaurants, pubs, bakeries, and grocery stores...
