Hyde Park Apartments — Hotel in London

I booked this room because of the proximity to Paddington Station, which is great! However, I received an email at the last minute that I needed to check-in before 6pm at a Real Estate Agent. We got there at 5:30pm, the man took us to the building, it was in a nice enough area, quiet, and some nice hotels close by. But, he didn’t offer to help with bags, he didn’t even go in the building with us, he handed us the keys and went to leave. I had to ask him which room we were in, and which floor it was on. He told us the room number and that it was about 4 floors (it was actually about 8 flights!), and he left quickly. There was no lift. When we finally got our bags up to the room, there was no information about anything in the room, I had to call to find out the code for the free WiFi they advertised. The room was decent sized with a “kitchenette”, the tea kettle was disgustingly cruddy inside, the shower curtain was badly stained, the ensuite bathroom was tiny but functional. The windows were filthy and one was cracked. We were disappointed with the quality of the place, I understand it is London, but it was a weekday, and we paid $180 including taxes for this room, and I know I could’ve gotten better quality for my money elsewhere. Where to start...??!! Dirty, outdated, noisy, freezing cold, smell of weed and unsafe!|It looks nothing like on the pictures on websites, so for me this is cheating.| To get to our "cave" we had to climb to last floor on narrow and angled staircase that was so old that everyone had to hope to not fall thru. |First morning the table fell on our child cause its leg fell off and it was not attached to the table at all, so no maintenance of the place. Radiators were cold, so no heating and windows broken. To shower was also a challange, bath so dirty, water constantly chancing from warm to cold and you barely fit in to tiny space.|Bed was extremely squeaky, so I woke up every time i turned, not to mention, it was very cold to sleep without heating. The gaps between doors of outside corridor were huge, so corridor lights were shining in the room and all the noise from other rooms was loud, not to mention the smell of weed. Even for free i would not consider to stay there again. Its a homeless shelter...

We booked a “deluxe double studio”. The location is good and the street is nice but how disappointing once you enter the building! There is no lift. We carried our luggage up six flights of narrow stairs and the room was nothing like the photographs on the booking site. |The “studio” was a “closet”, not much larger than the bed! The bathroom was so small the toilet pan was set at 45 degrees to the cistern. The building was hot and stuffy, only saved by leaving the single window open.|We paid for 4 nights but 1 was enough! |The bookings are handled by estate agents nearby who do NOT care that the apartment is a rip off!|No customer service, or offer of a refund, no email correspondence!|After moving out and handing in our keys, we had no trouble securing alternative 3.5 star accommodation nearby! ...
