I couldn’t go to sleep without writing a review and I don’t even know where to begin!
Prior to our arrival, I called to confirm there was a kid’s menu as it wasn’t listed on the website. I was told yes. I also asked if a reservation was needed and they said no. We went around 5 pm on a Saturday night.
It was myself, my mom and 2 two year olds. As my mom tried to open the door and struggling with one baby, a server came and open the door. She actually ended up being our server as well.
We were greeted and seated immediately. The aesthetics and vibes were def giving New Orleans. The light fixtures, the architecture, the decor, the music, just everything was on point! It wasn’t crowded at the time we went.
Our server, Ashara (sorry if I misspelled), greeted us within 5 minutes of sitting down. She asked what drinks we would like and if we’d like to order the kids food. If you’re a parent, you already know it’s best to order the kids food first so you can eat yours in peace. I love that she offered without me even asking!
Anywhoo…we ordered chicken tenders for the kids which came with potatoes and fried okra for appetizers. It came out in less than 10. The kids’ potatoes were really good, just a lil spicy for kids in my opinion. The fried okra was amazing! And the sauce that came with it. Spicy but doable.
At some point, my son was acting up, crying and being loud. I was about to take him outside when another employee came and talked to him. She was really sweet and tried to calm him down which she did. Kudos to her, I didn’t catch her name. But she had really nice long decorated nails that caught his attention.
Back to the food…my mom ordered the Bistreaux Salmon and substituted the rice for mashed potatoes.
Some call me picky, I just say I know what I like. I’m really trying to expand my palate and try new things. I questioned about the Fried Redfish and Grits. I don’t do grits. But Ashara explained it’s not the normal grits and what she described sounds like cornmeal which my Haitian people make and I love. So I decided to give it a try.
As soon as our meal came out, which looked delicious, my son started acting up again. 🙄 Took him outside and went back in 5 minutes later. My mom was tearing her food up, I didn’t even get a pic of it! Mine looked so good! And guess what? It was! The fish was lightly fried and tasty. I wouldn’t even call it grits, but it was yummy. But what made the dish was the sauce!! It had all the right flavors. Smokey and spicy. A manager passed by and I asked for more sauce and when he brought it out, it was piping hot and delish! I even told my mom you could drink it like soup.
Finally, of course I had to order the beignets for dessert. It was hot and sweet. Def needed.
Overall, if I could give this a million stars I would. I haven’t ate that good in a LONG time. I highly recommend this incredible restaurant. I haven’t been to the NO yet, but looks like I need to if they’re cooking like this!
If you made it this far, you better head on over and get you some good eats! Might need to go for lunch before I leave Atlanta. 🤣
Thank you Louisiana Bistreaux!! Y’all did y’all thang on this restaurant! May your business continue to expand....
Read moreWent to the bar. Bartender was clearly new because she acted that way or she just didn’t want me to return. My margarita of the day was trash. Just didn’t taste right at all. Before ordering I asked what kind of tequila is in it and she mentioned she didn’t know and was just staring back at me I Asked her would she find out, she did and let me know 841. This is why I assumed she was new. It didn’t taste right mostly sour mix.I always order a margarita.. that was a terrible Margarita couldn’t finish it.. ordered 1 dozen oysters. When placing my order she asked me did I want 2 dozen I told her no. Then only half a dozen comes out. I let her know I ordered a dozen. And she says remember I asked you did you want two dozen. I told her one dozen is 12 my plate has 6. So yes I orders one dozen, either way she did place my order for 1 dozen and the other half of the oysters came right out as she stated they were already ready.. They were delicious !!! Not quite like any I’ve had before. The pasta of the day was good but the sauce was watered down not thick or creamy. And the shrimp were super tiny. I ordered another half dozen oysters because of how good they were. When she brought them out instead of placing the food on the table she attempts to hand it to me. When I touch the plate it’s so hot I drop it. She goes ohh it’s hot as she situates the plate. I couldn’t believe that and I know my face showed it. Why would you put a hot plate in a cistern hand ? Then a server whos working the dining area mind you I’m at the bar in the far corner away from the entry way. A server comes by me and ask do I need the hot sauce I said actually I do but can you bring it back. She says ohh it’s ok I’ll just get another one she obviously didn’t see my half a dozen oysters that were just delivered. She walks away and my bartender comes running over like something happened. Awkward. As I finish my oysters I then push that plate away. All of my plates now including my pasta and drink are pushed away. The bartender comes over and ask me if I’m finished. I hesitate before looking at the dishes before me that she just chose not to clear, and say yes. Then she says did you want dessert ? Which is what she should have said I’m not a kid, why even ask me that? When you can clearly see Empty plates. She was uneducated on her job unprofessional and weird acting. It’s like today was her first day. I may try them for dinner again because the food didn’t disappoint but for Togo only, but that customer service was dissatisfying and made my experience not worth it. Brittany was her name I over heard...
Read moreMaybe, I came on a weird day, who knows. I had the Redfish and while the fish was “decent” the meal as a whole tasted “old”. Corn was overbearing, shrimp tasted “reused” and the dish was too soupy. I also ordered the chargrilled oysters, somebody forgot the chargrilled. What in the milky heaven is this? Finding the oyster was a treasure hunt. The service, amazing. So, I am cool supporting the establishment and paying full price for clearly less than desirable meal. Real talk, the bread pudding was not great, but fairly good. Dang, I wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, this first date here has placed this restaurant on my “do not entertain” again list.
10/20/24- (I was hoping there was NO response, I really wanted to at min like the place). This is in response to the owner after reading their response as I am extremely fair. To be clear, initially, I refused to make any complaint to the manager and pay FULL price for the meal. I believe, a service was provided regardless if it was subpar. However, since I was asked, the manager was exceptional in her response. But, (1) The experience had already happened, so giving me a new dish, didn’t changed the fact the first dish was terrible. (2) the second dish offer was equally if not more terrible because. This time the fish texture was like over baked chicken and when a knife can’t cut through what supposed to be a tad firm, moist and flaky in texture piece of seafood - that redfish was anything but. The cajun rice was decent and the broccoli is what got the two stars. The sauce definitely better, crab meat (let’s just say Publix’s crab meat would have worked better), the shrimp didn’t get any younger - it was confirmed by me to be old. Manager offered a discount, didn’t ask for it, but cool. When I got home, I ended up in pain for what I suspected upon tasting the old shrimp, terrible fish and random crabmeat and paid full price for that meal all over again in the bathroom. So next time, don’t offer that excuse, just apologize and work on doing better. Just do not conflate (confuse) the veracity (truthfulness) of my terrible food experience or my assessment of the food with the exceptional behavior of the manager. Fix the issue with the cook! I added more photos of the second dish. I hope this helps this place...
