Where do I begin. I am still at a loss of word of humiliation. Beautiful day to go sit out on their patio for lunch. When arrived was moderate busy outside. Empty inside. Server did not approach us for 45 minutes. Had to go inside to bar to get our own drinks. After going back to seat, we had to question server if she was going to take our order. Finally ordered our food, watched parties before and after us receive their food. 45 minute to an 1 hour later, we finally got it. Was it hot? No. We had to ask another server next us if he could check the status since a party at the opposite end of outlet table ( who came 30 minutes later) received theirs. Not once did we get asked if we would like something else to drink or maybe a refill of water. Again, had to wait for check. After a big table who came after us and left before us paid she remember us. Table of 3 remind you (only 2 of us ate) our tickets were wrong. Shocker. We requested to speak to a manager at this point. Entire experience here has been horrible. Manager come out and we explain our experience. Manager looks at me and then ACCUSES us of cursing her server. We question who cursed and what exactly did we say? I never have been to a restaurant and been treated like this before. Manager also said they were swamped. I will agree to disagree. We sat there long enough to see when it got busy to it slowed down. Were told the Manager comped our meal but honestly, that was not enough to be treated the way we were by server and manager. The manager was very unprofessional and needs to learn how to handle situations. I would start with do not accuse a customer without looking into to the situation. I do not care if the server is new or experienced. Later in conversation she tried to change her words of I was just questioning if you did say what you did. In her words. No ma’am you accused us and tried to tell us that is not allowed here. The feeling I had and my face most likely said it all at that point since other guests around were just looking at us. Completely humiliated. My star rating would be lower if allowed. Completely not satisfied and...
Read moreI'm going to say my server was a bit overwhelmed. Was seated promptly and drink order taken but after that things slowed down. I asked for a straw and I got it after my meal arrived. It took a while for my server to come back and ask for my food order after bringing my beverage. Something was wrong with his hand held, so took a moment to take the order. I had to get the host to get me that straw. Once my food arrived there was a mix up on my dressing. Ranch vs blue cheese. I believe he brought me another straw at time we noticed the error with the salad. But again I'm going to say he was a little overwhelmed as a convention was going on this weekend. The server did however find a way to compensate for the error. I appreciated that gesture.
Google said the place was less than busy however it was packed when I arrived and I got there within 2 minutes of my search. Made me wonder what did busy look like.
My wings were smoked to perfection. I got the dry rub. Didn't like the rub. But that's a matter of taste. First time trying that so I can't blame the establishment benday my tastebuds didn't agree. My chicken had a nice smokey flavor under the rub. The salad was plentiful, leaves were fresh. I switched the wings to the saucer and that salad filled that rectangular plate and was piled high. I was very pleased with the amount. Also, every plate of food that went by me to other guest looked well prepared and appetizing. Looked liked the other guest really enjoyed their food and drinks.
The establishment has a nice homey feel. Indoor and outdoor seating. I didn't feel rushed to eat, the staff were very polite from the host, bartender, and yes my server as well. I would definitely go again if I was in town and maybe try something else...
Read moreI was with the USC Alumni Club group all last fall when we watched games. Look, I'll be frank - the food is quite good. The mushroom caps, the bacon wrapped jalapeno chicken breasts, the specials, it was all delish. The chips and salsa were a mainstay of our table when we watched games there. The service by the waitstaff was also great. But the way the club was treated as the season wore on...we got shuffled out of the back room for other Texas teams that barely brought 5 people when we were bringing 35, we got flat out treated poorly. I place this squarely on the shoulders of the management, not on the waitstaff who did their best to be friendly and courteous and to take care of us. I remember them by name and fondly so.
I'm being fair and balanced in this review. Cedar Door's management was unable to behave the same way, going online to trash our organization and to file complaints with our superiors (who rightfully laughed off his rantings). If they had just told us that they didn't want to host us anymore and planned ahead for it we could have been square. But I'm taking the high ground and praising CD for what it does well (food and waitstaff) and criticizing for what it does poorly (bad management who lies to you). Make of it...
