The Maine Store — Local services in Bar Harbor

I had the opportunity to visit your store over Memorial Day weekend and was truly impressed by the incredible selection of goods.

However, I did want to share some feedback regarding the way the store’s no photo/video policy is communicated. While I noticed the signage in place, and completely understand and respect the intention to protect artists' work and intellectual property, the manner in which the policy was further reinforced—via a loudspeaker announcement followed by a joke—felt somewhat uncomfortable and distracted from the art being showcased.

If further reinforcement is necessary, perhaps a more thoughtful and informative announcement could be considered. For instance, emphasizing the importance of supporting and protecting local artists might help patrons better understand the policy’s purpose, without making them feel publicly singled out.

Today my wife and I happened to pop into this store to have a look around and I discovered the speakeasy, we loved it so much we popped back later to have another drink.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Darrin for helping me get a bottle of Wiggly Bridge. The Maine Store is a true gem, if anyone asked me for a highlight of our holiday this will be it. I sincerely hope we get to come back to Bar Harbor and visit again. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality.

We had such an incredible time at this store and bar tonight! The products that they sell are beautiful and so unique, especially since a lot of other stores in Bar Harbor seem to sell the same things. You can really feel the heart behind this business and it's a huge plus it's family-owned. Darrin was also hilarious behind the bar and we had a great time! He's a natural storyteller and made tonight really fun. We'll definitely be back this vacation and every time we come...
