Have been super excited to try out Andy’s for a while since i live nearby and seemed like it could be a good vibe but i was left extremely dissapointed before i could even walk through the door. Got there on a saturday night with no line bouncer said to give it about 2 minutes before being let in, so far so good me and my friends were excited, however about 15 seconds later people who were already inside kept coming outside to bring in large groups of their friends who were on the “bands guest list” no big deal we know these things happen and for a saturday night in LA you’re obviously expecting such things. however for the next 45-60 minutes this continued to happen, the show at the Troubador finished and hundreds of people flocked out onto the street in front of Andy’s and it seemed like 3-4 people from inside had told a group of 50-60 people they were all on the “band guest list”. What kind of venue allows the band to invite this many people in to skip the line? At this point just play a private concert in your garage and invite your friends lol. By this point over an hour had gone by where we were “next in line” to be let in, the line had grown around the corner going past Dan Tana’s and reaching Coucou with the only people being let in seem to be large parties who already had friends inside while the rest of us got to wait outside twirling our thumbs, after the hour was up myself and my friends and other groups walked out of the line and went to some other bars down the street, extremely dissapointing experience and extremely unprofessional doorman in my experience, making it seem like one of the most prestigious sought after clubs to get in LA acting like it’s...
Read moreI was really excited to check this place out, and I wanted to LOVE it. Here's my review.
Food: I wish there was more of a selection on the menu, whether it be bigger dishes or more appetizers. I ordered a cucumber salad. It was good and refreshing. My husband ordered the Korean BBQ Spare Ribs. These were also good but too spicy for me. If you don't do well with spice, keep this in mind.
We ordered old fashioned's... they were ok. I felt like it was just whiskey on the rocks. The tequila selection very much caters to trendy drinkers. If you're like me and don't drink Clase Azul, Patron, Casamigos, etc.. keep this in mind
Service: The hostess was very pleasant, and so was the first server we had. Unfortunately, her shift ended right after we sat down, and the next server was not so great. She repeatedly skipped over our table when doing her rounds without even making eye contact. At one point, my husband had to get another staffs attention to order his ribs.
Atmosphere: I'm torn here... they open early enough to maybe be a restaurant, but the food options are limited. Maybe I'm wrong, and it's supposed to be a bar with live music? We caught the end of a live performance who was great, by the way. Unfortunately, our view was obstructed due to the large crowd standing in front of the stage. We were hoping to catch the live band scheduled to perform at 10 pm, but due to the 90-minute seating time, we had to leave our table... the place was small and crowded, and I did not care to stand around all night while being bumped into.
I might consider coming back another time because live music is always great. But I don't think I would...
Read moreLoved the vibe, but service even before it got packed, was slow. The bartender, dark hair/tattoos tried to keep up, but with so many special drinks, it would be impossible. No bartender wiped down the bar at any time, and I was so bummed, I had a pretty new purse, and something got on it and I haven’t been able to get it out yet, it’s suede. More bartenders came on as it got packed, about 10, and the bartender who was serving the corner of the bar on 12/13 starting about 10, mid 20’s, dirty blonde hair, facing the stage, was not in the least bit friendly. He behaves like he hates his job - bet there are lots of people who would want it. He’s definitely not a great reflection on this place. Sabrina or Serena at the front outside was very welcoming and sweet, down to earth. First musician with keyboards was amazing. Second band great musicians, but the lead/trombone player looked like he rolled out of bed high, couldn’t keep his eyes open, and needed a shower lol. This bar is funky, he’s more Vegas dive bar. Didn’t try the food, wasn’t hungry, just wanted a few drinks. I’d come back, only in town a few nights for Stevie Wonder concert. Two drinks,...
