This review is a bit specific so please take into consideration. Service at the register was great, cashier was friendly and nice which is a good start. Unfortunately the barista who made the drink was another story, possibly the owner or a manager not sure, crew cut with tattoos less than pleasant. Issue was I ordered matcha lattes multiple times, all were terrible, watery no matcha flavor and I was up charged for complaining to add another shot. Keep in mind they're already charging $5-6 for a small latte so when a customer complains it's watered down the appropriate response is to simply say let me remake it and make it right, not tell the customer Im charging you to add a shot. If the prodict is the issue then use a better product or use more product to improve the taste. I've had Matcha teas at dozens of places I simply know what it should taste like. The second issue is the pastries. I get it they don't make it in house they order and get a decent product from a local bakery but it's cold. The only thing worst than no croissant is a cold croissant. If I had known ahead of time I could have bought them a toaster oven on my way in at Target and that puppy will run all day long heating up pastries just fine, don't need a commercial oven for that. Telling a customer we don't heat up pastries is unacceptable for an upscale coffeeshop. Fix it! I'll edit my review...
Read moreStumbled upon this chic spot looking to get some work done; I wasn't alone as there were others, mostly with their laptops, working away.
I was delighted to see that Verve serves options other than coffee. Tea is available along with probiotic elixirs and eats in the form of pastries and other small nibbles.
I ordered the Jasmin Oolong tea as they were out of the green tea. Was worried that the hot water they use was going to be too hot, but also was glad to hear the timer go off after the tea was finished steeping.
Too hot of a water temperature and you end up with bitter tea. Too long of a steep time and you end up with too much tannin, causing the tea to become bitter. None of this was the case. The oolong came out just right. Not too heavy, the loose leaf oolong provided a light tea that was more robust than a green tea would have yielded. Cost: $6
Presentation is A+, but comes at a cost that your pockets will feel. However, it's not a corporate behemoth like Starbucks or Coffee Bean, but it's not your local mom & pop either. With 10 locations around the world – two of them residing in Tokyo – the NorCal chain definitely has a grasp on who they are and what...
Read moreVerve coffee is the definition of Los Angeles trendy coffee shop. Think the aesthetic of Blue Bottle but with more options and 100x more young to middle-aged women in $120 Alo High waisted yoga pants wearing sunglasses. Super busy on the weekend. It’s good coffee though. They have the latte staples and the usual pastries, with some fun options like a cold brew lavender latte, for those feeling a little experimental.
Highly recommend they get crowd control posts and signage to direct the flow of foot traffic within the coffee shop, since you can enter from multiple different ways. It can get confusing. Along with actually queuing for coffee. Which seems kinda unpleasant, (think Southwest flight where you don’t get to pick your seat).
In fact, similar to a Southwest flight where there’s always that one person checking to make sure she’s in the exact numbered spot like a hyena eyeing frail zebras I ran into a scenario where someone in said Alo yoga pants with bad lip fillers acted like I wasn’t standing there in the front of people trying to get a drink order in....
