I had to come back and give another review because this place is THAT amazing. Everything about Great White Melrose just screams perfection โ from the vibe to the food, and everything in between!
To start, this spot is always packed and buzzing on the weekends โ a sure sign that you're in for something special. Parking can be tricky with all the nearby businesses, but no worries; theyโve got valet to save the day. Pro tip: You can book reservations on Resy, but brunch slots on weekends fill up fast, so plan ahead!
The staff here deserves their own round of applause. They are always professional, greet you with a warm smile, and know the menu inside and out. Whether youโre asking about drink pairings or menu recommendations, theyโve got you covered like pros.
Now letโs talk food and drinks โ because WOW. The watermelon margarita is my go-to drink. That mezcal is like a kiss from the food gods โ smoky, refreshing, and just hits the spot. For starters, the Tuna Tostada is phenomenal โ fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Ceviche is a game-changer with big, shareable portions and house-made chips that will have you licking your fingers. Oh, and donโt miss the Avocado Dip โ creamy, zesty, and absolutely addictive.
For mains, the Chicken Kebab is hands down the best Iโve ever had (and I'm Middle Eastern, trust me on this). The hot, fresh pita, perfectly marinated chicken, crisp cucumber salad, and that dreamy yogurt sauce โ every bite is pure bliss. If youโre watching out for that summer body, donโt worry โ the Fish Tacos are your go-to! Cooked to perfection, wrapped in lettuce, and simply magnificent. For pizza, I've had the Truffle Fungi โ letโs just say the name may sound funny, but the taste is bomb-diggityyy ;) Earthy, cheesy, and utterly delicious.
Oh, and if youโre into celeb spotting, this might just be your lucky day! The vibe is effortlessly cool, and you never know who you might see while enjoying your meal.
This place is perfect for any occasion โ a cute date, catching up with friends, or even a small private party (they have a cozy area that looks like it fits 10-12 people). So, take my advice: stop what youโre doing and GO TRY THIS PLACE! Come back to thank me...
ย ย ย Read moreMy two friends and I had brunch at Great White on Sunday, November 3. While the food was delicious, ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented in an atmosphere perfect for a relaxing Sunday brunch, we regret that we were treated very poorly when the staff sat a couple with 2 dogs next to us. The staff allowed the other patron to place her dogs on the bench seat, and one of them was right up against my friend. At one point the dog placed it's head on our table, and at another point the dog knocked over a glass of coffee on their table, and the coffee spilled all over my friend's white pants and shoes. Neither the customers, but especially the service staff, did absolutely anything to remedy the situation. While multiple health codes were violated and the couple/dogs continued to disturb our peace, no one on the staff offered to do anything, or even apologized. My friends and I were very calm, and rather than making a scene, we continued with our meal. It became very clear to us that for this restaurant, the other couple's dining experience was more important than ours. Perhaps it was because we were a table of two Black women and one Latina? I have no idea. What I am clear about is that we spent over $200 on a meal for 3 people and could not even be given the courtesy to have basic service and a meal without a dog pushing up against us and poking around in our food (I love dogs, but this was too much). During our visit, I observed several health code violations: allowing pets in an enclosed patio space (there were multiple dogs--small and large--in the patio, allowing pets on seating that is meant for humans, and allowing pets to touch surfaces where food will be placed, including tables and plates. This experience with hygeine and customer service far overshadowed the positives. I wanted to avoid posting a negative review by reaching out to the restaurant directly via their website, but never received a response. It's pretty clear that this restaurant does not deem all customers worthy of the same level of service, so needless to say, that was my first and last time...
ย ย ย Read moreI just wanna start this off with saying I have never EVER written a bad review in my LIFE. Iโve always been so understanding of food and customer services, but this experience I had at Great White has genuinely caused me to spiral and Iโm sick to my stomach.
The craziest and most disgusting experience of my life. I went with a friend and ordered sweet potato fries and a Caesar salad. As Iโm many bites in my salad, I begin to take a bite at something believing it was a big caper (which the salad had) only for it to be a ROACH that was moving its legs and antennas. I screamed out loud and pointed it to my friend and we were both in shock. We called a waiter over instantly over to take it just for him to take it, show it to his coworker and start laughing.
10 minutes later and the manager, or so I believe was the manager, could be just a random woman working there for all I know, approached us with no introduction and explain how they buy all their produce fresh and from the farmers market. She then asked if I wanted a piece of banana bread and coffee on the house and I denied, to which she then said she would come over later to check in with me.
Surprise surprise she did not follow up with that and instead one of the waiters came back with the pin pad and SHOVED it in my face to pay for my friends food AND MY SWEET POTATO FRIES. I looked at him with complete shock unable to say anything and my friend so kindly paid for it as she just wanted to get out of restaurant as soon as possible. Then we walked by the workers and โmanagerโ who literally did not say anything else, or acknowledge us. It was so embarrassing and gross.
Safe to say I will never be going back there, and I have been sick and unable to eat since then.
Literally no genuine sympathy, remorse, or sincerity in the world. Next time wash your lettuce twice if you so badly want to represent you purchase organic because this is unacceptable for a โhigh-end brunch spotโ and I could care less by how beautiful the decor location and atmosphere are, not worth poorly washed and...
