Big Bear Lake 🏞️ – A Perfect Escape in Every Season!

This Bluegreen is such a FAB location for a family (or extended family and friends) vacation. It does take a bit to get there through the mountains but once you are there, you don't need to leave. (Since were there for July 4th we also fit in the fireworks at Rotary Park.) Pool and Hot tub Get pool towels from the desk. To get the jets on for the hot tub, hold the spa jets button in until they turn on. Groceries There are two grocery stores locally. We shopped at Vons and they had nearly everything. Not walkable. Restaurants/Shopping Tons to choose from, all walkable. From touristy t-shirt shops to ice cream shops, lots to meander and see. Bowling/Boating Walkable from the Resort. Bowling was surprisingly nice and updated with a small arcade. Boat rentals (pontoon) well worth it. We also did the go carts, golfed 9 holes and the sky chair (chair lift). All a short drive. Sky chair - we were fine walking up, but others said to pre buy online. We left a couple hours early for LAX with a quick detour to Hollywood Boulevard. Fun!

Small little resort in the mountains. Grounds were clean and well maintained. The separate hot tub was closed the whole time we were there. Pool was nice and the kids enjoyed it a lot. The front desk people were hit or miss on being friendly and helpful. The rooms were in good condition but not as nice as I expected for a presidential. The area was nice and we always felt safe to walk around. The road in front has lots of shopping and food places to try. Lovely sunsets to take in every night! It was a fun visit, but probably just a one time experience for us.

We went last Friday for a 'Girls Trip'. I was uber excited since I haven't been here since I was in my 20s (pssst I'll be 57 next month). Let me first off mention that around 9:00pm-ish the entire Big Bear Valley region was blacked out due to winds, and this was done by BBEV it was announced earlier in the day, but if you aren't signed up for email or texts (which apparently this Club was not), you were caught unawares. This impacted our experience as we were sitting down for dinner at 9:00pm and all of a sudden (snapping fingers) it's pitch black... EVERYWHERE, not a glimmer of light in sight. We thought, of course, it must be a temporary condition until we went on Reddit and read that it would be off until 3:00AM. We received no notification, via texts (this is the form of communication at this property), from the hotel, no Safety (formerly known as Security in the hospitality industry) to make sure people were ok. We didn't have candles, and our phones weren't charged, etc. Then our water was turned off due to a leak in our building in the morning, and Engineering knocked on our door to let us know, and that's when we got the update from the hotel staff. This was around 10:30am. Bill in Engineering was so kind and patient as we asked, what I am guessing, questions that probably had been asked all morning, LOL He also opened our garage so we could get our vehicle out.||From here on, this review is based on our first impressions and the end of our stay.||We arrived after 5:00pm, and check-in was quick and courteous. The place is very spacious! The kitchen is roomy and great for preparing meals for a large group - just beware to bring EVERYTHING... this isn't an Airbnb you'll need to bring all seasonings/condiments, etc. needed for preparing a meal. I recommend taking advantage of the grill outside. It was super easy to use, and convenient for outdoor dining on the balcony where there is a round table to seat about 4ppl. The dining table was HUGE and perfect for our 5-course meal. There is a built-in desk area someone can use as a workspace if needed.||Living rooms are inviting and open; however, the TVs are not SMART TVs - this shouldn't be a problem if you plan to relax and spend quality time with whomever you are traveling with, but do keep in mind they do not have access to Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, etc. It's strictly cable. The temperatures drop considerably in the evening... we turned on the gas fireplace and enjoyed the ambiance. The day after the blackout (power was returned at 1:00pm), we had breakfast out on the balcony. It was comfortable and quiet.||Bedrooms are large (and dark), and the bathrooms are ample for groups that are coming with multiple guests in each room. Soaking tubs, walk-in showers, heated towel racks, and double vanities are fantastic amenities here. Crabtree & Evelyn Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Lotion! The TVs in the rooms are small as well, and are in the armoire... you'd be better off bringing your laptop or iPad to watch something, since these TVs only have cable access.||We did use the pool, but didn't take advantage of the jacuzzi as there were a lot of kids in there. The clubhouse was inviting, and we made a point to taste the popcorn. I made myself an English Breakfast Tea (Twinings). In this area is also a Coffee, Latte, and Hot Chocolate brewing machine. I like that they have a library located on the 2nd floor overlooking the lobby. I didn't use the gym or the billiards room, but I did take a peek - large and clean, from what I could tell. Ample space in the garage for two vehicles, too.||BTW, the village is located immediately outside the gates. A short 5-minute walk will have you at the cafes, restaurants, bars, and gift shops. If you didn't bring groceries or forgot something, Vons and Stater Bros are about a 15-minute drive down the road.||It's a little outdated and has dark interiors, but I am looking forward to my return for a...

This gated resort is beautiful. The area has lots to do and lots of places to eat within walking distance of the resort. At the time of this writing, there is a Jack In The Box within a 5 minute walk. There are little shops right outside the resort area, and a wonderful Escape room business within walking distance. The resort has a heated pool and hot tub outside. There are BBQ grills around the resort.||Inside, the resort is amazing. We stayed in an “A” house so our garage was not accessible from inside our resort room. To get to the main floor, you have to go down several stairs inside. While not a problem for us, if you have trouble with stairs you should mention that to the resort when making the reservations. We had 3 bedrooms…each room has it’s own bathroom, shower and very deep and wonderful bath tubs (no jacquzi). ||The resort is a gated community, so we did not feel that there were any issues with security, and often just left our patio door unlocked when we walked around the area. It was very quiet.||Just a word of warning…while this is NOT a reflection of the resort itself, it is important to note about the area:||You are in the mountains. To get to Disneyland, Universal Studios, LA, Burbank, etc, you will have to drive down the mountain to get to the freeways to get to the cities. It is about a 45 drive around winding, curvy roads. You’ll go down about 3000 feet in elevation (no exaggeration…there are signs). Early in the morning and late at night we experienced very thick fog that make driving very difficult…at one point I could barely see the road in front of the car. This should not deter you from coming to this resort, but you should be aware. To get back to the resort, you driving back up that mountain. Just be careful.||Pay attention to the weather forecasts. We were here in May, and because you are so high up in the mountain, it was still getting down to 20 degrees at night. Often we would leave with winter coats on and when we go to the city area switched to light jackets. For example, the day we went to Disneyland, it was 32 degrees when we left at 6am and when we go to Disneyland, it was in the upper...
