My husband participated in a fishing tournament so we came up and stayed at the big bear frontier this past weekend. We stayed in cabin 21, which was very nice, had the spectacular view of the lake, a sliding glass door from the bedroom to a patio area, had a separate living room with kitchen and the bedroom had a hot tub and separate standing shower. It’s 10:40 Friday evening and there’s NO HOT WATER! we informed the front desk which told us that a maintenance guy would come check it out. We waited and when no one showed up by 10:55, I called front desk again worried because they close at 11. Front desk said they sent a text out to the maintenance guy and didn’t know he didn’t show up, yet he didn’t think to call us back to let us know what the status was. We were fortunate that he was able to give us the key to cabin 20 to shower. Cabin 20 was not on the same level as cabin 21 and it was very obvious: no view, you have to “hop” over the wide edge to get into the hot tub to take a shower, there weren’t any steps. The shower area was obviously not ADA compliant. It was also a much smaller space. And it reeked of cigarettes. So the next day, we went to the front desk to check the status of the hot water in 21. The front desk told us they had us checked out of 21 and expected us to move our things to cabin 20. I told front desk that cabin 20 was not the same as cabin 21, and clearly he knew, he told us he would ask GM and see what he could do. Thinking over the situation as we were walking back to cabin 21 and I wondered why couldn’t we just stay in 21 and shower in 20? Is that asking for too much? We paid almost 700$ for 2 nights and they were going to clearly downgrade us. I called front desk and asked if we could stay in 21 and shower in 20. They said they couldn’t do that, that technically we were occupying 2 rooms. Which was really upsetting because technically, they couldn’t rent out 21 even if we moved our things to 20, so why couldn’t we just have access to 20 to shower? I understand that it may not be their fault that there’s no hot water it isn’t my fault either and if somebody had to take responsibility for there being no hot water it would not be me. Obviously. After going back and forth they told us we had to return the keys before 5pm to cabin 20 on Saturday when we check out Sunday 11am. That meant we would not have access to a warm shower after 5pm. I reluctantly agreed because it was better than having to move over to 20, but still felt it was not completely fair. If they cared about their guests, they would have offered to let us keep the keys to shower in cabin 20 since it’s the least they could have done, but instead they fought us over it when they could not have rented 21 to anyone else anyway. Very disappointed in this establishment as this was also the third time and last time staying here.

Let me start by saying I am a real person not a bot or bought unlike majority of these reviews. The best part of our stay was the lake. It was beautiful and the main highlight of our trip, even if it still wasn’t quite what we expected. When we first walked into the room, it looked nice and smelled clean, and the location itself was convenient. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience quickly went downhill. Within minutes of arriving, our 1 year old’s feet turned completely black from walking barefoot on the floor. In the bathroom, we found pubic hairs on the toilet, dog and human hairs in the tub, and hair scattered across the sink counter. We called housekeeping, but the cleaning was rushed and sloppy, and we had to leave the room while it was done. The housekeeper never apologized, only the front desk did. The floors were extremely squeaky, so every single step made noise, likely even worse for the people staying below us. The TV glitched constantly due to Wi-Fi problems, and when we called the front desk about it, they said there was no maintenance available so they couldn’t do anything. Instead of helping, they repeatedly told us to go through Booking.com as if they don’t actually run the hotel. The AC was stuck at 67°F but the room stayed at 74°F the whole time, and the bathroom exhaust fan didn’t work at all. We had requested a crib through Booking.com before arrival, but when we asked for it, the front desk said they don’t offer cribs at all, which is false advertising. The pool was closed until the end of August, which was never disclosed before booking. To top it off, there was a power outage during our stay, and there were no emergency lights in the hallways or stairwells, which is a serious safety concern. It was so inconvenient that we left early and didn’t even stay the full two days. We drove there stressed, slept a few hours, woke up, and checked out in the morning to get away from the situation. We booked this trip to relax with our family, but instead we spent our time dealing with problems that should never happen in a hotel. Between the misleading amenities, unsafe conditions, poor maintenance, and unsanitary room, this was completely unacceptable. Avoid this property. The nice smell and appearance when you first walk in do not reflect the reality of staying here.

We stayed here on Sat., 1/14/23. We were supposed to stay till Mon., 1/16 but it was short-lived. Disclaimer This review is specifically for the lodge (ROOM 118), not the cabins. The lodge is two floors in the back by the lake. If you stay on the first floor and someone is staying above. Its very loud! The room we stayed in has been remodeled and it looks great. Although the bathroom was remodeled. The bathroom was flooded, it looked like the water was coming from the closet through the floors. We called the front desk, and unfortunately, they were fully booked and unable to move us. They provided us with a lot of towels and told us the manager and maintenance would be by the following morning. So we created a barrier with the towels to contain the water inside the bathroom. But it's water and a towel, so it doesn't do much. We put on our snow boots anytime we went in the bathroom, but then we trek water spots all over the room. We used the bathroom as little as possible but It was an inconvenience. The following morning you can see the water is starting to seep under the new floors in the room. We jumped in the tub to change since the entire bathroom floor was flooded. We did our thing that day. I guess maintenance came in and checked it out. Bestie got the call and was told they couldn't do anything. The best they could do was comp us. So we checked out. The room was $266.04 the first night. They comped us $100 for the first night but still we paid $250. Not sure how they did the math on that one.

I wanted to go on here and write a review because I think people need to know about this place when looking for a place to stay. I appreciate others honest reviews so I’ll be doing the same and hope I can help in some way. I really don’t know how this place has this many stars.

I booked a room with Big Bear Frontier for 2 nights as a first getaway/baby moon with my husband, and 9 month old twins. I am also 6 months pregnant (which is necessary to know you’ll see why). So when I booked I made sure to put in the requests that I needed to be on the first floor. Hence the twins and me being pregnant. So we arrived at 1:30 on a Sunday and room wasn’t ready which is fine because their checkin is 3pm, no problem we went to the village to have some lunch. We went back at 3:30pm to check in and upon checking in I realized they gave us a room on the second floor. I immediately went back and expressed my concern. There was a lady and man in the front desk. I told them I requested first floor for my reasons (showed them on my email) he said he doesn’t see that on his side and he right away said that the only thing he could do was upgrade me to a different place on the first floor for an extra $70-$100. I told them that’s not right and that it wasn’t fair. We were already spending a good amount for 2 nights. The lady then says “well did you call us after you booked it?” And I said why would I need to call you? I’ve done a lot of traveling and everything we do is online. I shouldn’t have to call you. I was so upset, I go back to the car and then my husband gets out to try and talk to them too and nothing. No sympathy, no apology NOTHING. We took the keys and went to our room.

Okay, upset and all we head to the room. Upon walking in you can smell the smoke right away. There is no AC in there which wasn’t a problem because weather was so nice and needed to have windows open. Well, we were put next to a group of people who all they did was stand outside their room door and smoke cigarettes ALL day long. They have plastic cups right outside their door FULL of cigarette buds. Guess where all the smoke went? Our room. Let me remind you I have 2 babies and pregnant. I was fuming but of course what we couldn’t do anything.

The beds had small stains, and small little black dead bugs on them which fine I’m willing to get past but hey I sleep on those so yes gross. The carpet! Old, stained, GROSS! honestly my husband and I went to town to buy plastic flip flops because we felt so disgusted to walk around in there barefoot which also meant we had to keep the babies on the bed at ALL times. We brought a walker we couldn’t use because I didn’t want my babies to walk on there. The bathtub, that was probably the nastiest part of it all. Stained, old, dirty. We put one of our clean towels down in there so we wouldn’t step on it.

Im sorry but overall the stay was so uncomfortable! It was a bummer as we were trying to have a fun relaxing couple days with the babies. I hope my review will help some of you when booking. Let me tell you my expectations aren’t high. I’ve done a lot of traveling even outside the US so I am used to places not being decent but wow this place topped it off. Their customer service says a lot too. I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t do anything for us. But now we know, we live and we learn. We will NOT be staying here ever again and will be writing reviews on their other sites so people know not...

Had a great time at this resort. Stayed in cabin 314, a 1 bedroom cabin, newly remodeled. We can highly recommend this particular unit. It has a nice sized deck with a table, four chairs, and an umbrella. We spent all our time on that deck looking at the lake. Recycle and trash bins close by. Parking is near the room and we never had an issue with parking. ||Comfortable accommodations. A/C worked great, two large TVs (one in living room, other in the bedroom). Did not use the TVs but there seemed to be many channels available. Fully stocked kitchen including dish soap, and a fresh (important!) sponge. Stove, microwave, toaster, large fridge/freezer. Most everything you could need. The only things that could be improved on are the coffee maker and the lack of a cutting board. A cutting board would be great (the knives in the unit were top notch!) We used paper plates as a cutting board and that wasn't too easy. The coffee maker is a generic "Keurig" type. It didn't brew a full cup. We found out that you need to actually let the water brew a bit before it would work. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. We were told the coffee makers will be changed out soon. They did have coffee available in the lobby starting at 7 a.m. Those in our group that tried it said it was very good coffee. No decaf however. That would be a good addition. Ooh, one more area that needs improvement is the closet. There is a closet space, but no bar to hang items. Almost as if the remodel wasn't completed. We were told those will be fixed in the future. ||The fire pit near the lake, the corn hole game, and the propane BBQs were used by our group daily and we loved it! The BBQs are scattered all over the property. Some in our group used the pool and said it was very nice and clean. ||All staff that we interacted with were very nice and helpful. The property is walking distance to the Village (very close) so that is a huge plus. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. We ate at the Tap Room which is directly across the street from the property and we were very happy with it. ||Some in our group were in the older cabins. While they were perfectly nice, and very rustic looking, the newer cabins were to be preferred. The older ones did not have AC either which is nice to have in the summer. All units have wood burning fireplaces, with logs available for purchase in the lobby. If you bring your own, use a Duraflame type log. ||Overall it was a great place to stay and we will...
