Our stay was for a 7bed 7bath lodge for Jan 6th. As an avid reviewer, it pains me to leave a “bad review”. I leave hundreds of reviews a year on various platforms and this is the first time in over a year I’ve left a review with less than four stars. I can find the good in anything, anywhere, and anytime. Despite trying really hard to absolutely love our 7 bed 7 bath rental, I’m struggling to even leave the three stars.
Booking: five stars. I found this location on a third party booking site and decided to go straight to the source. Highly recommend not booking on third party sites whenever possible. Booking was a breeze!
Check in: five stars. Shelby was both friendly and helpful and check in took only a few minutes at the clubhouse, similar to checking in at a hotel.
First impressions of house: five stars. Clean, well lit rooms, mostly high end furnishings and decor. Every bedroom has its own bathroom which is a HUGE plus for groups of this size.
Our first night: three stars. We tried to get the fireplace to work (cold January night) but it wouldn’t turn on. It was pretty late in the evening and we figured there wouldn’t be anyone at the club house to answer and decided to leave it alone. The same situation for the hot tub. We couldn’t find instructions after several attempts to even turn the hot tub on. The water temp was 71 degrees so we didn’t use it.
First full day: two stars. We opened the dish washer to find that the bottom was flooded and not draining. We immediately called the clubhouse to notify them. They were friendly and fairly prompt but weren’t able to fix the dish washer. There wasn’t any dish soap to wash dishes (only dishwashing detergent) so we had to make a trip to get dish soap. We mentioned the hot tub and the fire place and a maintenance worker was sent. The hot tub needed a LOT of water added because the previous tenants let it run too low so the worker filled it up. Unfortunately, even after filling the tub, the maintenance worker said he wasn’t sure how to get it to work so we weren’t able to use the hot tub the entire stay.
Pool: three stars. It’s not super far and could definitely walk it in the summer but since it’s winter we decided to drive. It’s a decent pool and great size but that’s about it. The pool was freezing enough that only two of the kids were brave enough to get in. The kids didn’t last more than 20 min and couldn’t stay in any longer. What’s worse is that towels are only provided in the clubhouse (completely separate building and nowhere near the pool building). It also says do NOT use the rental house towels. I’m kicking myself for not reading in the book ahead of time that we had to go to the club house for towels. In my defense, you’re given a pool entry key when you first check in and there’s no mention of coming back before to get towels. Why not give towels when you give the key?
Check out: three stars. We called to let the front desk know we were checking out (per the instructions on the email). We reiterated the issues we had with the stay to ensure that they’d perhaps be addressed for the next renters. The representative was friendly but didn’t seem phased by the issues and there was never an apology.
Location of house: five stars. Proximity to restaurants, shopping and entertainment is spot on!
Minor issues: three stars. Water pressure is mediocre. The light in the main floor bedroom on the right had a short in it and wouldn’t turn on. It was mentioned to maintenance. Couldn’t access the lazy Susan corner cabinet in kitchen because it was wedged against the dishwasher. Mentioned to maintenance. Ice maker wouldn’t produce ice. Mentioned to maintenance.
Parking: four stars. I believe we counted 5-7 spots for our rental. If the other rentals were occupied, there’s no way we would’ve had adequate parking. The problem with this particular rental is it’s a narrow lot with parking on only one side so your next option is to park in another lot on the property which would be...
Read moreI thought we were staying at a “HIGH END RESORT”. Upon arrival at our cabin the refrigerator was not cooling properly and there was water in the freezer for well over 3 hours before I called for maintence.
The Air Conditioner would not lower the temperature in the cabin from 74 til well after midnight. It took two more calls over the next two days before they placed a portable AC unit in our room. Not exactly what I was expecting at a Thousand Hills Resort Property.
There were only two bath towels - no wash rags - no dish towels no dish rags. No dishwashing soap and no automatic dishwashing soap. No bath soap or shampoo. I was invited to get back in my car and drive a couple of miles to get the unstocked supplies. I politely requested a runner bring them to our cabin.
We went to unpack our clothes for the week and there’s no dressor or storage cabinets anywhere. We set up a portable ironing board and left all of our clothes in our suitcases.
The first night I went to lock the front door and lo and behold there’s NO DEADBOLT LOCK on our front door - or any of the doors to any of the private cabins. Just key coded locks.
The bed mattress was wore out - we just rolled to the middle.
The first morning we wake up to the sounds of ear piercing fire alarms but we were not cooking. Someone else was - several buildings away was. ALL the fire alarms were activated in all the cabins in our community and had to be deactivated by the fire department- several minutes later. This type of event occurred 3 times during our 7 day stay. So much for sleeping in on vacation.
The pictures that were advertised for our specific cabin show the pool right outside our front door - that too was misrepresented. It was two blocks away down one hill and up another. It’s a car ride if you’re an older individual like we are. We never used the pool for that reason.
We don’t usually spend as much as we did on our vacation lodging but thought we were staying at a “PREMIER RESORT” in Branson. We would have been much happier in a COMFORT INN SUITE that we know what we’re getting.
I would have rather left a 5 star review that said - best place to stay - it was incredible - well worth the dollars, but it wasn’t quite like that. Do your...
Read more**Updated, their reply to this review proves they don't care. We informed them in real time! No need to call and here they didn't care again.
MAJESTIC 406 Arrived at our resort at Majestic. Listing did not say they had pets. Black dog hair all over the place. And STUNK! Dropped something under the bed and found a dirty dog crate under the bed that reeked. So if you have allergies like us be prepared! Shower still had human hair all in the bottom. Had not been cleaned. Dog hair covering the washer and floor of the closet. Couches were gross and had something all over the cushions. (Assuming dog slobber) Spent our first night in cleaning. There was construction going on in the room next door so at promptly 7:00 EVERY MORNING of our vacation we were awakened with what sounded like someone coming thru the wall. Obviously that triggered the fire alarms for the whole complex that was going off for about 30-45 mins. When we called to tell them about what was going on around us they said they didn't manage the whole complex and it was an "us problem!" And "Oh well!" They weren't going to do anything. They did NOT seem to CARE AT ALL. They had our money and that's what mattered to them. Did not offer to move us or even ask the people to wait until a better hour of the day to beat the walls in. We will not go back because of their attitude alone. Not to mention their house keeping...
